Are you all ready for the blu-ray release? I ordered my special collector's edition on Wednesday from play.com and I have my PS3 all set up and ready to give me some time on Pandora. :D

To be honest I'm OK with my PS2, my ol' tube TV and the DVD release.

Really, I don't know why all the definition stuff when the important thing is the story. When you're watching the Jake's first flight scene you don't care about th 1080 lines.

Yeah I do agree. the difference isn't massive between the two and i'm not particularly taken by blu-ray, it's just nice to have the extra detail.

Oh, cool stuff. I probably haven't replied yet because a) I can't get a very stable internet connection in the room I keep my PS3 and b) I don't play it much any more. But next time i'm on, i'll be sure to add you.

not yet. I still can't make up my mind :) : by blu-ray in April or wait for special edition in the end of the year. I know I am getting the special edition. I just can't make up my mind if I want to get the blu-ray in April.

I preordered my copy of Avatar in Blue-Ray for the release in April, and now that I know I can pre-order the special collectors edition I'll most likely do that too. And as for a Blue-Ray player, nothin yet haha but I'm still deciding between a regular player or a PS3... I've heard lots of other things the PS3 comes with (besides games I know that haha) so I'll most likely get that, plus I would like to get back into racing games MAYBE... I tried playing games that I'd play daily before seeing Avatar recently and I played for seriously three seconds then I clicked out because it just didn't seem that fun to me. Anyways I'll get something before the 22nd... any suggestions?

I'll pick it up the day of release, even if it's at 12:01 in the morning:) Stanley_9875, get the ps3 even if you don't do any gaming. I'm sure you heard this already but it is worth the extra money for hdd storage and upgradable blu-ray firmware for when 3d becomes available.

Okay cool and is the upgradeable firmware for the 3-D on all PS3s? Or certain ones?

Any ps3 can be upgraded.

Hmmm, well I do. There's a HUGE difference between SD and HD. To me it makes a huge difference, and if there is any movie you should see in Blu-Ray then Avatar is it. With Blu-Ray and most Blu-Ray players you can get true 24 frames per second like you do at the theater... well as long as you have a 24p compatible tv as well, to me its important, no more flickering screen during movement. But hey, to each his own but for me it's 1080p all the way, I don't watch ANYTHING in SD anymore.
