Damm, it's the 19th of March, and its snowing again. The funny part is, that it was +10 Celsius about a week ago, and I thought the spring is here. NOPE. :hmm:
can this damnable winter please end already?! it was 36 degrees on March 21st, the first day of 'Spring'. ugh.
well, i'm being hit by wind and rain, and Hurricane Florence is still over 200 miles away, tree branches down in my yard already, and we're already way over the annual rainfall several months ago. it has been steadily raining here in Virginia Beach, since the third week of July. we had several small breaks from the rain, maybe three or four days both times, but i didn't matter, ground is way too saturated and this hurricane is gonna be bad for storm surge and flooding over the weekend. my house is 19 ft above sea level, but there people just a few streets over who are at 6 ft and less, storm surge can be up to 12 feet in some areas. yikes.

Well I have been away for like forever, lol, but here well last winter we had winter until April where we had our latest 32F or lower high in our recorded history, and it snowed three times in April( but had less than 10 inches of snow all of last winter including the spring snows), then the last two days of April Summer came and stayed for 5 months, lol we had our earliest 102F temp of the year on record in May this year! then we finally had some big rains in Late August, and just this past week which pushed the Missouri river to moderate flood stage after having severe drought this summer. Now? its in the 40'sF and there is a chance of rain/snow this coming Sunday.

We still haven't had snow, but it's for soon...
Well it did snow here tonight, and it came down like crazy! thankfully it was a degree or two above freezing so alot of it melted, but we did get a slushy inch or two of heavy wet snow, even saw the power blink and heard a branch break and fall due to the fact that all the trees still have most of thier canopy, walking around this evening out side kind of looked like a snowstorm in the middle of summer with still leafed trees, and green vines/weeds shrubs being covered in heavy wet snow. went from 92F to snow in the first two weeks of October. with flooding rains and funnel clouds inbetween.

Boring, warm, and sunny then cold at night. Like every other day in San Jose. I never thought I'd miss the bipolar weather in Texas.
Hurricane Michael knocked down a lot of branches in my yard, some beautiful trees around the neighborhood, so sad, still cleaning up after that storm, but it has been chilly early ever since the storm blew through us. cold and raining today. ugh.
Nice fall weather now, dry, cool to warm afternoons, sun, and cool to cold nights. calmer than the last two weeks.
all this unusually cold December weather has left the ground cold and frozen, and we are staring a winter storm square in the face...in early December! the last time we got a December winter storm was 1995. ugh. this winter is going to be a bad one, i feel it in my bones, to quote the seasoned veterans of the Farmer's Almanac. brrrrrr!
it was 58 degrees F above Davenport, Iowa, on Christmas Day, when i was visiting my brother and his family there, for the holidays. i have been driving there many years to visit them for the holidays, both when i was in the service, and my civilian years since. it always was cold and mostly snowy/wintry at Christmas, the last four years has been getting warmer and warmer. if people seriously don't think something is wrong with this planet, you are delusional and a trump puppet. stop burning coal and overpopulating, cutting down forests on a grand scale, and start looking for renewable energy sources. i am so disgusted with humanity. smh.
it has rained every single day for 10 days now, i am going out of my mind! arrrrghhh. it's raining again. -.-
Hurricane Dorian has taken a northeast turn...towards me. very bad. the winds have been clocked over 150mph and gusts at 220mph, and weather channel is saying this is second strongest hurricane recorded since 1928!:shock::shock: yikes!
Hopefully Dorian stays off shore, its a beast 185 mph.
My town had a close call in March where the Missouri river reached a record crest of over 32 feet (15 feet above flood stage). Thankfully the levees held, but there was lots of flooding around the area and some parts of mid town flooded some. Almost 6 months later the Missouri river is still above fs. We have had a moderate but very humid summer with a couple of big storms last week. |
i wish i could post the NWS twitter feed in here. ToS needs to enable twitter and IG for pictures/feeds, so much Avatar stuff on both sites.
