This isn't bad cheesy soft scifi, so the general "clone" BS is out (cloning does not work that way...).

True, but I specifically remember JC mentioning in an interview (as far as Quaritch is concerned) with DNA you can do anything and since it's a sci-fi movie, anything can happen. Might not be verbatim but that was the gist of it.

As far as I'm concerned, Grace coming back as the voice of Eywa makes a lot more sense than Quaritch coming back from the dead as a clone (as far as things in the Avatar universe go).

Cheers!

If Earth can invent/acquire/steal/reverse-engineer the ability to biotech needed to move minds around, then those are pretty much the same thing.

"Sir, Quaritch has been confirmed dead."

"Hmm. Can we recover the body?"

"Why would we want to do that, sir?"

"We can rebuild him. We have the technology."

"We'll integrate what we can recover into our newest AMP suit platform"

MECHA-QUARITCH.

Seriously though, no. He's dead, and scavenging things were probably already eating him/laying their eggs on him by the end of the movie.

Honestly, I could see them doing something like that. They could pull a page from The Terminator's book and create some kind of superhuman robot and surround him with the tissue of Quaritch. They could even mimic Robocop and put his remains in a superhuman suit and Stephen Lang could voice the character.

I think the bottom line is, for better or worse, if James Cameron wants to bring Quaritch back, no one involved in making the movie is going to disagree with him.

But yeah, either way, keeping an open mind.

obligatory

it's probably pretty dangerous to assume anything at this point. sequels can be terrible, great, or sometimes both.
