We're at 4 years now, how's it all going?
So I was reading back through some of my very first posts on the Avatar Forums. (Way back when I had first seen the movie)
It's interesting to see what I expected from life then, what's changed, what's changed the same, and what I have and haven't done that I said I would. How have you guys changed, or not changed, and how has life been going in these four years? And what's next? |
I'm still the same dumpster fire I've always been.

Argh, I've gotta read more of my older posts and come back again later, but for an immediate answer, I'd say that in some ways I've changed the way I wanted to while in other ways I still need work. Dang...four years ago? I just thought I was buying a few hours' decent entertainment...

About the same place, but with more experiences, and more friends.
Less obsessed with the idea of a pandoran utopia, but i still haven't lost sight of the beauty of it all. |
I'm still the same person, but I've had some more life experiences during the last 4 years. :)

It's seriously been 4 years. **** I'm old.
|
I've grown up a lot, still obsessed with Avatar. But I am glad I met all of you and I can't wait for the next movies. This site will become a huuuuge forum with more family members. We can form our own tribe :p.

I've definitely gotten more mature, and I always try to stick around here when I can. Just finished Year 10 of distance ed.

Yeah, Advent's writing was super :)
I never got so fanatical about the Pandora utopia thing or was really obsessive in general. Still, the way I think about Avatar has changed. I feel like I'm always reaching for the way I felt before, and I think this forum is what changed me. At first, it just felt great to be in regular communication with people who thought Avatar was as great as I though it was, but I think all the longing and sadness changed my feelings about it a little for the worse. I'm not typically a hugely empathic person, so it's kind of strange that this happened and I'm still hoping it'll reverse itself at some point. My life in general changed a lot more obviously, since I'm married and living in another country :P |
I can't believe its been 4 years...Holy Cow, I was in high school when it came out!! In my situation, I didn't watch Avatar until a year after it had been released. So I joined here 3 years ago, when the hype from everyone else was starting to die down a little. I remember posting like crazy and constantly listening to one of the soundtrack songs over and over and over again...The 2011 June meetup quickly followed and sparked a whole new fun group of people to hang out with.
4 Years later though I have to be completely honest, about 95% of my enthusiasm for Avatar is gone. It will always be a part of me, but I've moved on it seems like. The reason I keep coming back to the forums and being part of the meetup planning team and chatting on IRC channels, is not because of the movie, but because of the people that are here. I'm glad that I've had a chance to meet most of you in person, and hopefully I'll get a chance to meet the rest of you one day. -Kevin |

Avatar also got me into costumes, (something I've been neglecting at the moment) and I'll always be grateful for that. |
