Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana Back for All Three 'Avatar' Sequels
 

In a news story that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone (more of a relief really), Sam & Zoe just officially signed their contracts for the 3 sequels. Stephen Lang signed before both, which is kinda surprising.

Also confirmed that Jake & Neytiri have kids :) (which was easy to guess for anyone who watched the deleted scenes, seeing NeyNey pregnant).

A Cameron quote from the article:

"Jake Sully is a rare combination of passion, strength, street smarts and soul, which requires a lot from an actor. Sam brought to the role a combination of sensitivity, vulnerability and strength. Zoe captured every aspect of the character I envisioned, bringing to Neytiri a mix of delicacy, fierceness and incredible physicality. I am beyond pleased they'll be returning with us to Pandora."

I'm sure there was some sort pre-contract or tacit understanding that they were coming back for any sequels but now it's official.

Edit: Actually, they had signed up for 2 sequels but with the addition of a 3rd sequel, renegotiations were in order, which explains the new contract signatures.

Relief is the exact word, I'm not ready for new characters.

Irayo, Jachyra, for posting the news about Sam and Zoe! Glad to hear they're signed on and are being prepped for the sequels.
And hopefully filming will commence sometime this year. :)

I seriously doubted the sequels would follow new characters, but good to see confirmation, I guess.

JC's made comparisons with The Godfather, so it's not entirely them either.

They're probably in all three due to good old na'vi longevity.

Will love to see how they bring Quaritch back and if he's still deficient in empathy! As to new characters, I could do with one or two; maybe a secret son/daughter of Tsu'tey, 'cos he really was my hero.

I think we're more likely to see a flashback of some kind for Quaritch...

Sam Worthington was probably thrilled about this, since he's already been pigeonholed in his acting career.
