Interesting. You've just made me realize that we have no really good way to say "feel welcome".

Because the phrase "Welcome" is Zola'u Nėprrte', which actually means "You have come with pleasure / pleasurably". And one of the ways to say "you're welcome" as a response to "thanks" (irayo) is nėprrte'. Which just means "pleasurably/with pleasure". It may look like nėprrte' means "welcome", but it doesn't, literally.

So how would we express the idea of feeling welcome then? Hmmm... I think it's the idea of feeling like the group you are entering is treating you like a friend or family.

Perhaps:

Oeru sunu fwa ngal oeti zet pxel tsmukan.
I like this: you me treat like brother.

(notice fwa instead of futa, and the -l -t endings)

Also, you could shorten this by expressing a positive/happy mood instead of outright saying you like it:

Ngal oeti zeiet pxel tsmukan.
You treat(and I'm happy about this) me like brother.

Maybe this kind of expresses the same feeling of feeling welcome. :)

Nice! :D Maybe I should have made it genderless and more broad. That sentence, I guess, was made with Wind12 in mind. tsmuk instead of tsmuke / tsmukan is the genderless version. Maybe that's what we should use because it applies to all. :)

Ngal oeti zeiet pxel tsmuk.
You me treat(:D) like sibling.

Moco Loco 08-29-2014 03:54 PM

I guess so, especially if it matters for grammatical correctness.
