Hidden Messages
Everyone who hates AVATAR always talk about all the hidden political messages in AVATAR and I stumbled across something interesting. I was typing a description for one of my posts when autocorrect showed me something I have never thought of.
Any time I would type "Ikran" autocorrect would change it to "Iran." :airquote: So anytime I would type "Ikran Leader" it would be changed to "Iran Leader." The Ikran Leader is the leader of the "People of the Eastern Sea." :hmm: The Iran Leader is a leader across the sea in the Middle East. Coincidence? Or part of a political message? :shoop: __________________ * Please share your opinions and thoughts on this here. * Did you see a hidden message in AVATAR? If so, please share it here... |
Good luck with that.

Oh, have I posted an unpopular / taboo / over discussed topic?
DISCLAIMER - Sorry! I'm not from around here so topics that were unpopular or are never to be discussed that were posted or discussed anytime in the past five years are brand new to me and I only came up with this topic because of autocorrect. I will clarify, this thread isn't supposed to be about Iran, the Middle East, or American wars. It isn't intended to fire up intense debate either. It's only about anything hidden or interesting that you noticed in the movie. It's difficult to come up with new topics that haven't already been discussed to death. Basically every topic conceivable was created on AF within the first few months of the original release. You can only talk about how sexy / perfect Neytiri is and post the same 10 photos of her for so long before people lose interest altogether. |
No worries, it's a perfectly valid (and entertaining!) subject to discuss! :)
On-topic, I think that the thing about hidden messages in movies is that they are all real from the perspective of whoever sees them, and perfectly valid things to interpret. Does someone see Avatar as a metaphor for anything in the world or in their lives? Great! It's hardly invalidated because JC didn't intend for it! Even within the fanbase we perceive the movie from a huge array of different perspectives - I've met people who don't perceive an environmental message at all, for instance - and that's perfectly fine! We all have different ways to enjoy Avatar, and all are equally valid :) |
I doubt the message is that specific, it's just generically about a superpower taking resources/land from a less advanced and powerful people. (With a helping of dues ex machine for a happy ending)
