I dreamed once about finding a whole shelf of Avatar comic books in a library.
This could be really, really awesome. :D I'm mostly just hoping the art style isn't too exaggerated. |
Awesome. I can't wait until it comes out.
|
Yeah a long time to wait it's soon over! Like me so much, for this hope genius Comics!
|
Btw, this is the Avatar cover print with art by Dave Wilkins

Just work on the ****ing sequel, James.
|
I'm pretty excited for this but yeah I'm a little concerned about the comic style seeing the outrageous style in the Mass Effect Comics.
But anyway, first word of new merchandise, especially the new books coming out, I'm getting them as fast as I'm getting Fallout 4. :xD: |
Avatar comics? Now that is something nice :)

I was hoping we'd get some Avatar comics/graphic novels -- Yay! And I'm liking that cover artwork. The Na'vi pictured reminds me of the leader of the Horse Clan in the movie. :) |
I had given up buying comics when the price increased to $3.99 an issue. This will make me start buying at least one comic again. Maybe I'll start buying Marvel and DC in trades. Well, Marvel at least.

|
are these comics in print yet? i couldn't find anything on them.

they need to get something out now, comics, The Avatar Novel, a new videogame, anything to keep us connected to the future...because the future keeps getting postponed and pushed back. *sighs*
|
Well, there is the Cirque du Soleil production, but I keep wondering about those other things too - the comics, the novel, and of course the sequels. I keep saying this, but I hope everything's alright on James Cameron's end. In any case, I'll still be patient if it means the highest quality output possible.
|
I too hope to hear more news on the comics, The Toruk show is great, and it is finally something new to enjoy :), but I hope the comics dont turn into the "Novels" where, it seems like it just becomes limbo as to when they are coming out, hopefully the Toruk show is the "turning point" to where Avatar stuff starts to roll out as we head for the sequels :)
But I still say, when the wait is over, we will see why we had to wait, and the product is going to be superb. :D |

Just as a reminder for everyone that the Avatar comic comes out as part of Free Comic Book Day event on Saturday, so remember to pick up your copy. :)

So I picked up a copy at my local comic book store and here is my quick review, obvious spoilers below so look away now.
Result: Its OK. It a quick 12 page comic expanding on the scene where Jake jumps onto the Turok while talking about stories his brother told him (specially Alexander the great and the greek myths). Apart from Jake no characters from the film appear so no Neytiri. Its artwork is good and look movie accurate (though it feels a bit uncreative). While its competent for the first Avatar printed media in 7 years it feels like there are more interesting things they could have done. But for a freebie to promote the comics its OK. It does leave me wanting more but not in a good way. It ends with a note about more avatar comics coming soon but no commitment to this year given that Dark Horse probably signed a deal expecting a movie to come out in 2018 I won't be surprised if they delay making anything. That being said still get the comic, Dark Horse will be watching the numbers and if the comic doesn't move issues they may not make any more. Sorry I tried to like it but its just not that interesting. |
I don't think we will have to worry about it moving issues. I had to go to three different stores (having called another two and receiving confirmation they didn't have it) in order to actually get it. And by the time I left the store I got it from, they were out of them too.
Sorry to hear it was so disappointing. I hadn't actually opened it up and read it yet. I spent $125 on trade paperbacks and a t-shirt while I was out today. I also created a pull list consisting of Avatar comics on the shop I went to that had it. I guess I won't be hearing from them for a while though. :( |
I couldn't find it anywhere. I wasn't really hyped about the comic anyway to be honest. The Disney attraction is neat and the comic at least adds more to the AVATAR universe, but my main focus are the sequels. :)

here is a less critcal review of it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Avatar/comm...k_day/dh7ro7k/ Overall he agrees with some of my points but hey he at least liked it. |
Since I haven't found it online yet I may as well skip this one, I'm not that into comics anyway.
|
Well I enjoyed the Free Avatar comic a lot, despite it being rather short. I fee like we got some "deleted scenes" from the film, in a way, and that's always a bonus IMO. I love the style of the artwork and how movie-accurate it is! I look forward to the full Avatar comics yet to come, esp if they stick with this same art style. :)
|
Can't wait to see Neytiri in comic book style. :)
