Avatar Sequel Delayed Beyond 2017
https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comm...december_2017/
Just what the title says; I included the reddit thread because there's some interesting discussion there as well. So, who thinks this is Disney's fault? |
Given the timing, it certainly seems like that could be the case, but at this point I could see the delay being the result of even more fine-tuning before production begins. Perhaps there was some consideration over whether to delay it again, and then Disney decided to Star Wars the crap out of the next two Decembers and that just made up the minds of Cameron & co. for them. Then again, it's not like Disney has anything to gain from making the sequel be delayed too long given that they're adding this world to one of their parks...
What interesting things are being discussed in the Reddit thread? I'd look myself but I typically can't stand any kind of online discussion of Avatar outside of the main forums. :hmm: |
Given that they've apparently not started filming yet, they might've delayed it because they realized they didn't have enough time.

Whatever, I'll wait for the movie. Avatar is the best ever movie made in the cinema world.
|
Oh no we have wait longer then . What is the exact reason that film got delayed?
|
Surprise surprise

Hey mark go through the following link. 'Avatar 2' Delayed Indefinitely, Won't Arrive Christmas 2017 - Rolling Stone
|
Indefinitely is a big word.
|
avatar 2 is becoming the duke nukem forever of the cinema world
or the persona 5 because at least DNF actually came out at some point |

you forgot to add Half Life 3 LOL :P:D:rolleyes: i have been waiting since 2005 for HL3, and since 2007 for HL2: Episode 3, whichever comes first. damn you, valve |

at least we got trailers and booths for persona 5 and DNF. we haven't heard ANYTHING AT ALL about a half life game for 12 years |
The talk of Duke Nukem Forever is a bit concerning; I hope Avatar 2 won't be *that* awful. However, even if it's the best film to ever grace the silver screen I think it will have some unrealistically large shoes to fill for many of us. We're expecting a few hours of footage that's worth waiting 8 years to see.
|
And the hype train's not even got started yet!
|
The day that I am finally in the theater watching the first sequel, is going to feel so awesomely surreal, how ever long it takes, I will be there.
|
you'd think Lightstorm/Weta would finish those 45 minutes of unrendered deleted scenes as practice for ramping up to the prequel/sequel production years, and give us a Avatar Ultimate CE just before the release of the first sequel. they know we'd buy those bad boys up, especially a 4K HD version of the Avatar UCE.
c'mon Lightstorm/Weta, do the right thing!!! |
Best to contact WETA/Lightstorm with the fans requests to see the completed scenes that are seen on the dvd as unfinished. I'd love to see the Na'vi festival done and Neytiri dancing. :)

I feel like at this point, it could never happen. I know I was totally on the "JC YOU CAN DO IT" team but this is a bit much. I understand having incredible almost superhuman passion for a project you've thought about your whole life. I also feel like I can understand how releasing it in a climate of "sequels = money" can add pressure to making sequels, and if the ideas are there, a lot of them. The vision is out there, Avatar exists. Maybe he won't have the energy to do more. I don't know if anyone's already said something like this, but this is a distinct possibility after seven years and so much hype around 2010.
|
^ That is something that crossed my mind, and if that ever happened, it would be crushing, but Im still going to think positively, and hope for the best, In one sense the long ever growing wait time is disturbing, but JC is known for taking his time for projects, and he has stated that he wants this to be his legacy, so In a way this long time makes alot of sense, so Im not too concerned yet, but I wont lie, I might throw a party when I hear this... "filming has started"
