What a steal, a mere $275 for a lifetime (however short it may be) of Na'vi living on an island.
|
As much as I'm sure many of us seek a more nature-centric life, I know from experience that this kind of endeavor requires a huge amount of research, funding, preparation and knowledge. While normally I'd be all for these opportunities to exist, no matter if they end up succeeding or not, this is quite obviously either 1) a scam, or 2) disorganized to the point where it could as well be a scam as far as money is concerned.
I'll leave this thread up but for hopefully obvious reasons I'd stay far away from this 'project'. join_the_navi - if you're legitimately serious about this, I would strongly recommend looking into the actual efforts required to start a new society in this manner. Taking a minimal amount of time to throw together some rules and ideas and expecting people to line up to "join" is never the answer, not to mention rather disrespectful of people being individuals in their own right. There is need for huge preparation and above all participation of everyone sharing this vision, collaboration not only in the work that is done, but in terms of policies, rules, organization and more. Take this away and, as iron_jones suggested, things turn more cult-like and this is never, ever a good thing. |

I can't take things serious that ask for cash to be mailed to them and to move to an island that isn't controlled by a government, and being far away from civilization doesn't mean you don't have to worry about pollution or war. Also this may be the most creepy thing I've read on ToS "I am warning you 6 years from now please don't be like "Sorry im older , i dont want to join" YOU HAVE JOINED AND CAN NEVER LEAVE. So be careful on how you join , make sure you really want to be in the na'vi."
With that said in all honesty living more Na'vi is a fantastic thing. I say more because living just like them is impossible, for myself anyways, I wont speak for others. There are a ton of things we can all do to make that possible that don't involve mailing cash and moving to an island where there is no government. If there is a piece of land that isn't Antarctica some government is going to claim ownership to it and regulate it. Getting out and enjoying a walk looking at nature, picking berries to eat, making less waste, walking to the nearby store as opposed to driving, all small ways to be more like the Na'vi. Also all free. If youre on ToS you have the internet meaning you can connect with people who will help you learn Na'vi. I know someone who is self taught to craft as the Na'vi do, using as many natural objects to make necklaces, clothing, to be more Na'vi. I'll never be 10ft tall or blue, but the spirit of the Na'vi can be in you if you truly want to see a change in your life. Asking for cash on your Facebook, making threatening statements, that is not Na'vi. |
I agree with everyone.
Read the tribe board on LearnNa'vi's forum. You'll see that in this 21st century civilization, downgrading to neolithic life is almost impossible. It could be illegal (kids, housing, society), dangerous (rebels, black market, fauna/flora) and/or just unaffordable (ownership). Plus the prehistoric life was far from being Disneyland. Enjoy life. Keep it for the summer. |
