RDA WTF vehicals

I found this when searching the Project 880 sites, I found some weird vehicals, and I don't know, are these even RDA or military vehicals, they have 'Avatar' logo on them, but it doesn't say what are they, or what perpose they serve. Is it just fan art? is it for Avatar 2/3/4? What perpose do they serve and are these military or civilian vehicals?

Here is the site that I got it from: AVATAR

As far as I can see, this is Avatar-related, so these aere supposed to be in the Avatar universe.

1. Looks like it would be some kind of jet powered transport vehical, doesn't have wings, so I assume it's a land vehical, it could be a landing craft though droped from the ISV

2. Reminds me of the Valkyrie, is this also a spacecraft? or is it an evolutionary stage or the Valkyrie?

3. This one has fins, like a bullet, so this one could be a spacecraft, however, all of them have car-like wheels, so they could be land vehicals, these are just my geusses

Anyways, does anyone know anything about these? Does anyone know what these vehicals are used for? Military? Civilian? Are these spacecrafts or land vehicals?

WTF?

Does look like very early concept art - and the style looks very different from what the RDA uses in the film. If if does have some counterpart in the final film I'd say it's pretty likely these vehicles were supposed to show up on Earth, rather than belonging to the RDA on Pandora.

But it could just as well simply be some early concepts that did not end up getting used - I'm positive Avatar has literally thousands of pieces of concept art resembling nothing in the final film. Cool concepts, but I doubt there's any distinct canon connection.

I agree these looks like they were supposed to be for an earth-based scene. I get the feeling there were supposed to be more earth stuff in the early drafts, there is some concept art for a rail gun style sniper rifle for example that might have been the weapon that put Jake in the wheelchair.

Not to mention Project 880 was very different from Avatar to begin with! In some pretty cool ways, but different nonetheless :D

IMO, I'm glad those weren't in the movie; those vehicles are fugly. Almost as fugly as the PT Cruiser. Almost.

That's the one. We never see anything like it in the movie and its rail-gun component seems a bit too hightech to work on pandora. There is also the fact its dated 2006 and is still using the project 880 name

Well, the 'Project 880' is on almost all concept art, even the ones that entered the film, Grenades, flamethrower, Tsu'Tey's knife... all of them were in the film unchanged.

Some of the concepts were in the Avatar: The Game, that weren't shown in the film, and were are very close to the original Project 880 cocepts, like Hell's Gate for example, it wasn't like in the movie, the markings on the weapons, it ways 'Miller Arms Corp' and not Matanza', *you can see that on the Eurys II standard issue, Eurys II Solaris III and IV assault rifles) and the style of the weapons looks identical of the one seen in the Mechanic concept and the book about Pandora. Some of the Names are also simular to the Project 880, of instance:

Tsu'Te - Tsu'tey.
Josh Sully - Jake Sully
Mo'at Pohatsua , was Moi'at's original name. The name wasn't changed.

Those look like Earth vehicles, like futuristic limos or civilian cars.

That first vehicle in the OP looks like a bloody chest freezer. Clearly, in the future, humans have lost all sense of style.

more like an industrial garbage truck. Perhaps the idea was to show utilitarianism with style or something (earth without culture, everything made for function compared to the Na'vi hand made artisan etc).

Eltu 02-20-2017 08:14 PM

Definitely fits with the overall aesthetic of Avatar's "future Earth" imagery!

Omatikaya Tsamsiyu 02-23-2017 09:21 PM

Neyfan is right, these are in fact earth vehicals, I looked at the designations of the photos, you know, when they were first saved, they were named:

EARTHcar6

EARTHcar7

EARTHCAR8

So since they are earth vehiocals so I think they are either sports/race cars, since they have that sport-like shape, and the jet-like engines.
They could be also earth-based military/police armoured vehicals, due to the lack of windows. or the windows could be removed for safty reasons. During a car chrash, the second thing thats the most dangerous is the flying glass that was broken during the impqact. They could've been tremoved, and the car itself is a GPS-navigated vehical, meaning that the driver shows on the GPS were he wants to go, and then the car follows the way shown by the GPS system, like in the movie 'I, Robot', exept those cars had spheres instead of wheels.

the first one is without a doubt a transport vehical, which you can tell by the opening in the rear, it looks like a door. either a military/police armoured vehical, or a normal truck that transports goods and products to stores. I could be also a garbage truck

the second one I think is:
Either a camper, like a mobile house, OR a mobile store, like an icecream truck.

the last one is probably a racecar due to it's shape and rear fins.

Eltu 02-23-2017 09:23 PM

They seem to have been heavily inspired by retrofuturism, so the sport-like shape and jet-like engines might have more to do with that esthetic.

...though I'd do anything for an Avatar-themed ice cream truck... :D

Omatikaya Tsamsiyu 03-20-2017 10:54 AM

Can these be hover vehicals, like in Star Wars, or perhaps flying cars, like in the Fifth Element?

Eltu 03-21-2017 12:53 AM

In the end it's up to our interpretation, though they do have wheels so that seems unlikely.

Omatikaya Tsamsiyu 03-21-2017 06:02 AM

Those fin=like parts made think that, I'm making a Hell's Gate replica in Minecraft, thought I throw them in. I don't even know which end is the front and which is the back, though I asked this question my mom and a few friends, and said that the left side is the front, these things that I thought were engiones could be the front lights, and on the two other cars, the ones with the fins, they have a red piece on the right side of the picture, which could be the back lights given that the back lights on cars ar made out of red glass. the triangular part seen on the car below I believe to be the window and/or door, I'm not sure about that though, it had lines on it, which could be how the car opens.
