I've been looking to get my hands on something more than just the movie because the only thing AVATAR related that I have is the collector's edition Blu-ray. I didn't see AVATAR until months later when it was had already released on DVD. I signed up for AVATAR FORUMS June 30th, 2010 after watching the movie over the weekend. All the big hype had already gone away and aside from a few statues that were released (and out of my price range) nothing else really came along. A shirt or a necklace would be great. This time around with a movie being released every year for a few years there will certainly be more things available. Right now it looks like the best place to get AVATAR related gear is from the Disney attraction. Perhaps they'll make their way to an online store somewhere.

Perhaps they'll make their way here - The Disney Store

Oh wow, there are Disney stores all over the place. There are four Disney stores in Dallas. Hmm

Looks awesome. I especially like the shaman animatronic! A shame I will never get to visit as I live in the UK.

My core interests are what angles Disney is gong to take in presenting this "experience" place ,, and what take away impression it will leave with guests ,, not just what the press have to say in reviewing it though things have been quite posiive given what was said with there early impressions as to building it in the first place , because it takes place in a distant future timeline after any conflicts have taken place in a time of peace and presents things the Na'vi want to teach "us" (and I am very thankful they did not place Disney cast in Na'vi costumes to try and play there role as that simply would not work) as well as how it will evolve to stand the test of time and reflect the root values the film stands for (concerns of over marketing hurting core values still there) the Alpha centari expeditions angle as well as dealing with believability issues given the physical travel time to get to Pandora for "tourists" visiting this world ,,also from another simple standpoint they do not address how such "tourists" have now come to be able to breath the planets toxic to humans atmosphere as well as how they are not becoming easy "prey" to some of the large carnivore creatures that live there.. in truth for them to walk the forest paths they would have to wear exopacks or be enclosed in some kind of sealed environment clear tunnel filled with breathable air . to be inline with animal kingdoms values and the films ethos they created a "refective" venue called the Pandora Conservation Initiative this creates a "bridge" is also inline with aspects of the films core ethos ,, as it provides a refective education venue that relates back to "The intrinsic value of Nature" on a number of levels .. this is a natural given there core agenda as a whole with what guests will take away from there experience .. great example here.. they also touch on Na'vi spiritual perspectives and relations from a gut feeling experience perspective ,, something that cant be intellectually explained but only experienced inside.

the dialog shared between James Cameron and Whoopee Goldberg touches on this,,

The exomask thing is an interesting point, but then again there are four sequels coming so maybe it will be revealed over time, or maybe there are just limits to how "real" it can be made, as it wouldn't be much fun to have kids thinking if they take off a mask in the park that the air will hurt them. Maybe they will find a cool way to deal with that though :)

The easy idea would be to turn them into audio tour style devices giving people a reason to keep them on. But ultimately it is a theme park so a bit of tone breaking is expected

Well, my theory is that, by that point in the future, humans would've developed some other kind of tech, or something, that would enable them to breathe on Pandora without having to wear an exopack. Just a thought anyway. ;)

^I agree with much of this. :)

POV footage of the ride:
edit: removed the link because of leaked footage just to be sure, just search for "Flight of Passage Full Ride POV at Pandora: World of Avatar"

It feels so surreal to finally see more Avatar footage after all these years, together with the music this gave me some real nostalgia goosebumps for a moment, nice :)

Incredible! While theme park rides always dial up the spectacle if Avatar 2 can do stuff like this you'll get even the haters coming in for the visuals.

It looks like they've got some new creature designs (hard to get a good look because of the visual quality) which look interesting (others less so, you literal massed a shark with a blue whale so original).

Its certainly weird seeing new Avatar visuals after 7 years.

i'm so super jealous of everyone who lives within driving distance of disneyworld right now because DAMN this looks SO COOL!!

i mean i don't know if i'd actually go on the ride because i don't know if it'd give me sensory issues or nah, but STILL i want to at least be there!

and i want that hoodie! i want it so bad it looks awesome!!

allroock123 05-22-2017 08:45 PM

Aside from a few guests complaining the rides are not very handicapped accessible,, which they will probably address in the future with special accessible ride modifications
I understand we are seeing early revisions of things to come with the pre opening views so far .

I already have a 'shopping list' of sorts for this place;

1) Ikran shoulder puppet
2) Try out Nightblossom, a drink with passionfruit bobas that's a mixture of limenade apple and desert pear flavors.
3) Try either the 'pods' or Hamburger bao buns or something a bit healthier from the Satu'li Canteen
4) Miscellaneous other merchandise

What do you guys think about the 'make your own avatar' action figures?

https://blogmickey.com/2017/05/ace-a...ion-figure-75/

It seems pretty pricy but extremely tempting to have your face on an Avatar.

Yrel 05-26-2017 03:55 AM

the overall quality of the figure seems pretty legit? like the paintwork is nice and the faceup looks pretty good. can't say much for the jointwork unless i see it in action but they look pretty solid and tight.

don't know if i'd drop $75 dollars on it tho that's a looot of cash for an action figure.
