New Avatar game in development by Ubisoft
So this is some new information.
There is a new Avatar video game being produced by Ubisoft and the same developers that made the Division! No screen shots or assets yet but still great news, clearly hotting up for a release around the sequel. |
Well, Massive are pretty competent (and Swedish!) though Avatar's a tricky movie to turn into a compelling interactive experience, as the first 2009 game showed.
Nonetheless, as a game developer myself I'm quite interested to see which direction they're taking this :) |
I just the Na'vi language will be decent, this time, and not full of illegal letters and words.

Oh my... YES! where do I sign up for beta testing? :D
Interesting info: Job Opportunities - Massive Entertainment - A Ubisoft Studio Massive Entertainment is looking for an online programmer especially for this particular game, so I assume it will have a multiplayer component. I'm really excited about this already! |
Too bad it seems to have multiplayer, in my opinion, but maybe it'll turn out nice anyway :D

Job Opportunities - Massive Entertainment - A Ubisoft Studio They also hire narrative designers, so there's a good chance it will include a single player story as well (worst case for me its just the quest stories of an MMO, I don't really like MMO's :/ ) I guess only time will tell. I'd love some competitive SecOps vs Na'vi FPS matches in the nighttime pandoran jungle, or at least the functionality to play the story in co-op mode. |
Given there is a lot of senior positions for the project it sounds like its only started development.
With the talk of multiplayer its possible that it will be a the division style system, a single player/mmo hybrid with drop in co-op or inbuilt PvP areas. This does hark back to some of Cameron's early idea of a Avatar MMO. Something like the division might be able to provide this concept while being commercially viable. Also there is a job posting for a senior narrative designer who's requirements suggest its going to be open world and have RPG elements. Job Opportunities - Massive Entertainment - A Ubisoft Studio Edit: Having looked at the other job specs it does look like multiplayer is an important part of it, that suggests something like the division. |
Well, sort of makes me wish I still lived in Sweden! :D

I would like to see more open world explore and discovery experience that is more in line with the game "Wild" "But" certainly not Tribe verses tribe (which is out of the films ethos anyway) something that follows more in line with the history and story of Toruk first flight.. I don't think it will be so much "Na'vi verses RDA combat , but more in the lines of say a young Na'vi going thorough there coming of age process or becoming a peacemaker ,Would also be nice to See VR support as well as a environmental immersion experience with the Na'vi community in the center role ,, Becoming one with The people.. probably an awful lot to ask the developers but a story that was a true and root authentic to the ethos of the films world "and its reflective elements" and I will add more big picture elements in the developing relations perspectives between Na'vi and humans , some solid story refection's upon history and exploration would be a lot deeper then the expected Na'vi verses RDA tactical combat scenario.. I will add this example ,,

I would think a Mass Effect style game in the world of Avatar would be good. Of course without all the space travelling. Travelling across Pandora, on the other hand, would be great!

I would be very much opposed to this. I have no idea how a Mass Effect game where you spend so much time in different city areas on planets in between shooting people and things would work in the Avatar universe. I can understand if you meant you think a third person shooter/RPG hybrid in the world of Avatar would be good, but otherwise I don't see it at all. |
Eltur tìtxen si...
May have to upgrade my PC for this... :na'vi: |

My video game experience, Nintendo, sega stuff in the 90's ( a bit) then no video game play for like 15 years, then I play the Avatar game on xbox all the way through, ( still mess around on it some, mainly just flying around on the Ikran in "Iknimaya" map and shooting RDA people, so my next game will likely be the next Avatar game, hrh
