Do you plan on watching How To Train Your Dragon?

From the look of the trailer, it appears to be a childs movie, however, it's getting a rather high grade on BOM (B+) and looks like it can be an interesting movie. Though, just like Alice in Wonderland, I will most likely not watch it until the Blu-ray release.

I saw the trailer enough times from Avatar, thought it looked relatively funny. I might watch it some time if I'm bored, but I probably won't spend the time and money to go see it in the cinema.

I saw it today... it was pretty good, had great graphics and a good story line... obviously won't beat Avatar... not even close, but when Avatars out of theaters and you want to go to the movies, I'd recommend it. Better than I thought it would be. And apparently my friends who I saw it with said I was the main character... I looked and acted like him :S haha

I saw Avatar in digital IMAX 9 times, and all 9 times, I saw the trailer for How to Train Your Dragon. So, I am pretty much annoyed at it enough to probably not see it now :) The same goes for AiW, Toy Story 3 and Shrek whatevernumberitson, way too much trailer exposure for me.

Trailers are also getting worse I think... they reveal way too much and they just seem poorly made. And they played commercials in your IMAX theater? In my IMAX theater, it has a Avatar title and starts right when it says its going to start :D

That's the difference between digital IMAX (liemax) and real film IMAX. I've seen it in film IMAX 3 times, and there is no preview whatsoever. Just the IMAX logo, and the movie starts.

I saw How to Train Your Dragon on Friday. It was better than I thought it would be. I enjoyed it a lot and it lacked some of the sillier cliches that they tend to have in kids movies although they still had to have the whole "parents don't understand me" and dividing the kids up into "jock", "dumb fat kid", "nerd", etc.

The funny part was when Hiccup had went close enough to the dragon that can set himself on fire (the red one) I kept thinking "toruk mackto" because it was red and the way it was standing is similar to the toruks and ikrans. I also thought it was a change, especially considering it is a "kids" movie that the main character (spoiler alert):

I was tempted to peek at your spoiler, but I won't. I've been looking forward to this film; not as much as Avatar (it'll be years before a film fills me with anticipation like that again...probably Avatar 2), but I do plan on seeing it, in IMAX. And if it's as enjoyable as most film critics are saying it is, I might see it again (maybe not 13 times, as I did Avatar)...

Its worth seeing. I might see it again with my husband, if he wants to see it. He isn't much for movies like this so I'm not sure if he will but I'll try to convince him (I convinced him to watch Avatar with me).

I'll probably end up seeing it, since my little brother wants to :)
I was going to take him this Sunday, but we didn't have enough time.
It looks cute, I guess. I don't really see why people are making a big deal about it though.

I've seen the movie yesterday evening. I have just one word for it: AMAZING.
It's not as amazing as Avatar, but it has some great scenes in it and I'd definitely recommend it to everyone who has seen Avatar and liked it. I'm definitely going to see it again one more time! ;)

I find the message of H2TYD closely related to Avatar's one: learn listening to the others, and then learn how to respect them, because if you do it you can do great things together.

Just watched it, and for an animated film.. it now ranks just below Avatar on my awesomeness list for my recent film viewings..

Despite it being based on a children's book, and it being kiddy and all, the message is really there, as Tudhalyas said above, and adults enjoy the show a lot :)

Btw, the cute dragon there, Toothless (my new avatar picture), looks a lot like Stitch, probably due to both movies being directed by the same guy ;)

Anyways, go catch it, its definitely worth your money :)

Tudhalyas, I caught the message as well. Granted, many children's movies try to promote the same message but often times it comes off being cheesy and preachy. H2TYD did it well :). I also want to see it again. It definitely ranks as one of my favorite animated films. On the Dante Movie Rating Scale that my husband and I made up I rank it about the 7th level Paradiso :).

Yes! A few like-minded people who also feel that H2TYD is worth a second look. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that a film with so much to offer would suffer from a low box office take. Personally, I intend to do my best to help brace those sagging sales by going quite a few more times. Now if only we all lived within driving distance of each other and could go watch it together in IMAX...*cough*Tudhalyas*cough*

Well said, Immo: H2TYD ranks a close second to Avatar for favorite movie released in the last three years or so. I also agree that Toothless is ADORABLE; his animators were able to convey his emotions simply by his facial expressions and body language.

I also love Stitch: in the movie, he crash lands on the island from which I originally hail--I even recognized some of the rendered scenery.

For those who are still skeptical, I will tell you that this this film made me laugh out loud more than a few times, and had me spilling over with tears on two instances. Any film that affects me that strongly, is worth a look, IMHO.

I might see it just to satisfy my IMAX craving. It certainly won't be Avatar, but Avatar gave me a big appreciation for the IMAX format.
