So I Have Decided

I love the techno/trance/rave/electronic scene, and I love to DJ for that genre, and recently I've been thinking about getting back into making music. I have made music before a long time ago, maybe 3-4 years, techno music, and I was known as Prototype Project, and made a couple tracks, using Magix Music Maker, but after a while I stopped because of the lack of time that I had. Then one of my best friends and I a year back were hanging out and I grabbed a SoBe and on the cap it said Scorch Muffins and I looked at my friend and said, "wouldn't it be hilarious if there was a band called Scorched Muffins?" and he looked at me and said, "Let's be a comedy techno group and call ourselves Schorched Muffins!" So we did, it was me and my friend Greg who I was hanging out with that day and two other friends, and we made a couple songs with Magix Music Maker, but once again because of time and getting everybody together was tricky. At some point a little before Scorched Muffins I found a (legally) free download of a music maker program called Mad Tracker. It was an amazing free program, and I started to make a few songs, but never finished them. So about a few weeks ago I was looking through my computer and found the Mad Tracker program, opened it up, and started listening to my unfinished songs. I felt loads of inspiration and thought, "I've got to get back into this... big time." So the next day which was thankfully Friday I drove to Sam Ash, a music store at the mall, and normally I would go to the DJ section, but that night I went to the recording section. I talked to the guy working there for about a half hour, asking lots of questions, his recommendations, what I'll need, ect. He was extremely helpful, and even gave me his cell in case I needed any more help with anything. So I have my goals set, just need money for a lot of the equpiment and software. And the next weekend if I recall correctly I was looking in the poetry section of the Tree of Souls forums, and saw a lot of amazing work and I thought to myself, "Hey, why don't I make an album dedicated to Avatar!?" I would use the techno and trance genre to try and express the feelings and emotions that the movie gave me and the movie tried to express, like James Horner did with the score, except through the form of Trance and possibly techno. I would like it to be instrumental, and some including lyrics (if anyone would like, I would love to use a couple of your songs and/or poems that you guys and girls wrote) plus my stuff (I've wrote a few poems and lots of diary entries) and if I could, release them onto CDs, and if I could maybe I could make it a 2-Disk release. I was also thinking about copywrite with Avatar, and if I would need to work out legal agreements and such. It obviously won't be for a little while, because the job I'm at right now is hardly getting me any income, so once I graduate college in August and get a job hopefully at a dealership. I know for a fact I'll get started before the year is up, and most likely have a couple songs done by then. Like I said, I have my eyes set on the equipment I need such as studio monitors, a MIDI controller, new set of turntables, ect. and am still looking around at software, like Ableton Live and such. And also what I'd really love to do is a remix of I See You, like what Cosmic Gate did (I loved that remix version, Cosmic Gate is great).

So what do you guys think? Is it a good idea? Do you think I could do it?

Edit: I would dedicate the album to James Cameron, Jon Landau, Zoe Salanda, Sam Worthington, James Horner, all the cast and crew that helped make Avatar, and of course all of you

Edit Edit: I'm still looking for a new DJ name, I was thinking something like DJ Bioluminescence, or Liquid Sky... still deciding

Why not? It sounds like a fun idea. If you have plenty of time, go for it.

I'd buy the disc to be honest :P

Good idea Stanley :). I have a few poems that I have written years ago. If you want to use any of them, let me know. Would you like for me to send them to you?

Silver Storm 04-06-2010 07:43 PM

that is a very good idea! an amazing project! i really hope you will do that.

Devourment 04-06-2010 08:17 PM

I play the bass and can do any death vocal there is.

If I could be of assistance I'd be glad to help with anything ;]

This is a great idea. Good luck though getting Lightstorm to allow you to use their copyrights. Even if they don't, you'll be the number one download on isohunt. :war:

I've also had some experience with sound, but I did the (very much less glamorous) job of live sound mixing and system setup for plays, churches, garage band concerts, and such. I'll be glad to help if you need anything.

Oh yeah, and Cosmic Gate is awesome.

Dude this idea is so WIN!!! This would be kickass if you really do it! I say go for it man, will be something you will have forever and be able to show how awesome you were when you are old :D

Haha, you are so right man ! And your idea shines for real tho', it would be amazing. :D I really like what CG did with that track, it's clearly a view to what trance and electronic music has become and that 2010 comes with lots of suprises for real !!!

About the nickname... I got mine, it's Binary Sunshine, like the plant and I want to explore in evolving it to a lot bigger concept. Anyway, I would name you something else, like something related to Kelutral or Bioluminiscence, as you said, Smth like Bioluminosity or Home Saver.

Good luck with your work, it's a great idea imo. I kinda gave up producing, I prefer to stay on mixing but maybe that's just me :D

P.S. Can't wait for Sean Tyas to remix I See You, it will sound awesome if he'd do that. Anyway, I see "I see you" as an uplifting or melodic track, with some vocals in it too.

Iceri 04-06-2010 10:18 PM

Feature me on a track with you? :D
As DJ Synthsahaylu.

Txum_kali'weya 04-07-2010 12:35 AM

that would be great.

I liked the music for that scene(right before the scene before the war, right?)

Rabbit 04-07-2010 05:32 AM

Reckon you could put some heavy drum and bass songs on the album?? I could send you some of the songs ive made and see how you like???

Human No More 04-07-2010 12:03 PM

Really not my kind of music, but I'll certainly give it a try :)

Boomachucka 04-07-2010 08:19 PM

Damnit Stanley, why do you have to live so far away?! My band and I would love to feature you and your stuff!

With that said, go for it! There are few things as wonderful as music and having the ability to create something unique all on your own. It's a very personal form of art, in my opinion. I've always wanted to get more into techno on the writing side of things, and I would love to hear some of your stuff!
