Warrior Soul - Kiuas

Badass.

Leequilibrium 05-07-2010 12:57 AM

I hate to double-post, but this thread has been disappointingly dead, for a while. It is in dire need of some Dream Evil to resuscitate it.

Saw these guys again, last night. It was fantastic.

Советский меч 05-07-2010 05:02 AM

Now this is real metal.

Leequilibrium 05-07-2010 10:34 AM

Dude, you can't make a statement like "real metal" and then follow it up with American Metalcore/pop-metal :glol:. Unless you were being facetious, in which case - bravo! It gave me a good chuckle.

Human No More 05-07-2010 05:12 PM

Yeah, I saw them playing support before, I was not impressed. A lot of scene types around for them too...

Ratavasidna 05-07-2010 05:17 PM

so i usually make my own metals and build things with it, but i think titainium would work better, what do you think?

tm20 05-09-2010 03:34 AM

awsome, theres a metal thread here as well :D Anyone like Cannibal Corpse?

Human No More 05-09-2010 03:52 PM

Don't know if anybody else here has heard the news, but:

"Message from Wendy Dio

Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever.

- Wendy Dio
"

R.I.P, Ronnie James Dio. A great loss for the metal community. My respects to his family and friends.

People hate them because they are 50% instrument, 50% computer making the instruments do things that the musicians can't.

Their stuff may sound cool, but it's mostly a computer doing the work.

Human No More 05-16-2010 10:41 PM

RIP Dio... :'(

Devourment... no. I've seen them live, and they CAN play their songs. Most people who say they can't actually haven't seen them live, or saw them early on. I'm not even sure what you mean by 50% computer, the only use of computers is in some of the more weird stuff Vadim uses sometimes.

I've seen videos of em live, it was enough.

And by computer I mean they pro-tooled the heck out of all their tracks.

my friend said the exact same thing, he saw them live in 2008 and said they are very good :) But i guess some people think it's cool to join in the hating for the sake of it, just go to youtube and read the comments.....

i havn't seen any nu metal posted on here so here we go!

i love this video :D

Leequilibrium 05-18-2010 01:49 PM

Dragonforce are just very incongruous performance-wise in a live environment. Very hit and miss. I'm not really into them, but I saw them once in 2005 and it was the worst live performance I've ever seen. No exaggeration. I saw them again a couple years later and they were surprisingly tight. I also saw footage from other dates from that later tour where the performance was pretty lacking, again. It seems to be luck of the draw. Some people say it depends on how much they've drank, but that's a pretty poor excuse to hear from a musician... a real musician's musical ability remains intact even when all communication/walking abilities have gone out of the window.

Then again, Dragonforce have always been awful since Steve Williams (Power Quest) left them :gwink:.

tm20 05-18-2010 02:20 PM

that was probably when they were on their tour with the really bad equipment. They fired their manager because of the problem. But I havn't seen them live, although i want to :D

forgot to post some music. This song is just ****ing brutal

Well, my point was that they've been performing inconsistently across multiple tours over a large stretch of time, not on one single tour... and playing out of time with your bandmates, sloppily and messily can rarely be the fault of "bad equipment" :gwink: - that's a player problem. However, I'm not here to bash them, they're enjoyable enough in small doses and, like I said, they play well an equal amount of time to when they play badly. I just find the up and down wavering quality of their performances very curious. Maybe they have a group multi-personality disorder? :glol:

Trust me, having met Sam (briefly, didn't really talk to him like I did with Herman), the amount he drinks sometimes is REALLY huge :P (I got a beer from him though :D )

When I met Herman on their most recent tour (met him before the gig and after) though, we ended up talking a lot, he said that yeah, on some of their early gigs they did get far too drunk :P, but also some of their sound setups were really bad, he said that on the first part of the Inhuman Rampage tour, they really couldn't hear their playing half the time, and most bands wouldn't have played, but they still did rather than just piss everyone off by not playing, which is good IMHO. They actually played very well on the Ultra Beatdown tour (and played Where Dragons Rule, which I asked Herman to play :D :D )
(To be honest, I did see them on the Inhuman Rampage tour, but to me, a band playing live will always play worse than recorded, I expect that, and it wasn't massively bad anyway)

(In case you couldn't tell, I'm a big DF fan... I'll have to dig up my photo again)

Leequilibrium 05-21-2010 12:34 PM

Wow. I'm rarely speechless, but... f*ck.

WESTBORO BAPTIST CHURCH To Picket RONNIE JAMES DIO's Public Memorial Service

If I had money, I would fly over these and beat them up for that myself.

As I said to one of my friends, maybe it's time to revive Varg's philosophy on churches :war:.

Some very sad news,

Today, may 24, Paul Gray was found dead in a hotel room in Iowa. I could not and still can't believe this. I found out before one of my university lectures today and for the whole lecture i was shocked, i still am. He was too young to die, and he was going to be a father. I really hope this isn't the end of SlipKnot. And ironically, my mick thomspn mask arrived today..... but now i'm just not in the mood for having fun with it. As a fan I can only hope that nothing bad will happen from this like depressed fellow band members and so on and that they recover from this tragedy and keep together as SlipKnot. Because I would hate to see them end like this.

I never used to be a big fan, but I like Slipknot, and I'm with you!

Rest in peace Paul!

I've never been such a big Slipknot fan, but they're music is good and I hope this won't make the band split :(
I heard of this right this morning (about 7 hours ago) when my friends sister called him of the terrible news! This friend of my is a HUGE slipknot fan, so when the news of that his rolemodel for bass-playing has died... he kinda lost it there for a min! He started crying and went away for a while...
Later when the news had spread across the school, there was some of the muther****ing hip hop people that replied: "Ha! Glad he's dead! They were anyway just a damn pop band trying to play metal!"
... my friends was seriously about to rip they're throats of if we hadn't calmed him down...

Such a month for metal... first Dio and now Paul!

At least he's dinning with all the metal gods in hell now!!!

\m/ "If You're five five five, Then I'm SIX SIX SIX!!!" \m/

Human No More 05-25-2010 10:34 PM

I've never really been a slipknot fan either, but there is a lot I dislike more, and I respect them because they often get people onto other metal, plus anyone dying is still sad.

Been a sad time for music recently :'(

tm20 05-26-2010 03:59 AM

been listening to SlipKnot for the past hour, still cant believe Paul Gray is gone

Fkeu 'Awpo 05-26-2010 06:10 AM

Not that much of a metal kind of guy, but this has some catchy riffs.
