What shall we do now?

It's obvious for us all, every member that joined this community, that Avatar was not just an impressive movie. It had a deeper message, something that completely touched us and made us want to change to do something else with our lives.

We cannot just stay in the dream, with the thought of Pandora, Neytiri and all the crew; just like a madman would do -alone in his own world. We have to move forward. The question is, where?

If we don't make anything with this now it'll probably die as the time passes.

So what shall we do now?

Join a volunteer group? Get an active social role in our family? Try archery or horse riding? Trek around the mountains?

PS: Rapunzel has said more than once that the change we want to give our lives must begin from the inside. It won't happen overnight, and it's won't be easy, but it's really worth it.

And she is quite right.

I already decided that even the small things make. I try to have less of an impact in the world. I recycle more, I walk into town most of the time instead of getting a bus. I've been eating less as well. I've considered what I want to do, and decided I really don't want to spend the rest of my life working in some boring job I hate. Not sure exactly what I'll do, but I know what I won't let happen.

I want to learn archery sometime too, in the Na'vi style :D

Contrary to many, my reasons for loving the movie so much were its love story, the basic plot overall, and the wonderful visuals. The overall wonder of the film made me think more about life other than ourselves in the universe, and the way of the Na'vi people caused me to spend my time more wisely than I've been doing. The environmental message was the one message (though the primary one in the movie) that I didn't care about, honestly. The whole "we borrow energy, and one day we have to give it back" was kind of a hogwash message that I couldn't care less about even addressing, so...

Yeah. I'm also one of the very few on here who's slightly confused about why people are depressed rather than joyful after watching Avatar. :S Shouldn't it inspire you? Make you happy? Thrilled? Excited? Why so glum?

Still though, what will I do now? Advance myself. Learn more about the world. Do better in all facets of life. Live like tomorrow will never come. Be a better person. And that's a memo.

It has given me new reasons to become involved in the medium of film, it has inspired me to develop the themes into my own work, allowed me to become more respectful of the earth I stand on, and given light to the corporate greed I am subjected to.

In other words, avatar will live on in me, through my future pursuits, it has shaped me and turned me into a more loving person (contrary to popular belief) and fueled my motivations to do something with this life I have been blessed with. I have learned from avatar, and will continue to learn, this has been a great adventure, but dont let the dream die just yet. :glol:

I like this thread. Its important to move on. Avatar changed us, but we have to act on those changes. But it's also hard knowing the next steps.

I think everyone here is capable of so much. Everyone here and the other forum are dreamers - the kind of people that would really bring a change to the world. So whatever it is you do, good luck, and I have no doubts you will succeed.

Me personally, I don't know. There's so much to do though. It's like "where do I begin?". Its not a bad thing. Now is the perfect time for doing something. The world is in trouble and there is a lot of public support for things like "going green". I think an oppertunity will open up for me. I'm not worried about that. What I am focusing on though is my character. I'm trying to just be an overall better person in any way possible. I hope to inspire otheres. Be an example so to speak. I'd also like to find my schtick. I think that's the right word. But basically something people would know me for in a good way, something I would be remembered for, a way to touch others.

I've been thinking about this too... I've made the choice that this world may seem dark and cruel, but I'm going to be my own person and not be like them. Most of us I've noticed are only following them, as was I, but today I had a smile on my face all day long, said "Hello, how are you?" and waited for an answer, I asked an elder man who was loading his car with bags of dirt at Home Depot if he needed help, which he declined but said it was greatly appreciated. I've been changing my attitude, and let me tell you, I've been feeling a lot better lately.

Plus also I've had my trips to the mountains just to hang out, I'll walk outside of school into the cool wind and close my eyes, look up into the sky and take a deep breath, trying to feel nature envelope me.

Avatar isn't just a movie, its a life changing experience

Archery sound sick!

Personally I just try to keep some of the values presented in Avatar in the forefront of my mind. I consider just about everything I do with the question "What will this accomplish?".

I don't personally have a lot of time to dedicate to volunteering, though I'd like to at some point- but at the very least, doing lots of little things (Recycling, courtesy, environmental friendliness, and so on) can really make a difference.

Avatar is far, far more than a movie. That's for sure.
