I think there's a sizable amount of truth in what you say.

I feel like Avatar-forums is run by Sky People.
I'm glad ToS exists. |
As someone who joined AF quite early (New Year's Day), but has never participated so much, I found that the spirit of the beginning, the love, the warm-hearted posts were gradually fading away, long before the change of the design.
I didn't notice anything about flame wars, hostility or whatever, but I really didn't feel so attracted to AF anymore. So, when I came here yesterday, it was like travelling back in the good old times, the beginng when the Pandora effect was capturing me completely. For the atmosphere of love and kindness and for God's sake also for the whining, which I could hardly find anymore in AF I will stay here. |

Morrowind has to be one of the absolutely greatest games ever made :D

Of course it does :D For several reasons, really.
While Oblivion is just generic fantasy terrain, Morrowind has incredibly varied and unique graphics. Oblivion's leveling system is just plain STUPID. I mean, one of the fundamental parts of an RPG is to make your character grow in strength. In Oblivion, there will never be regions you are afraid to enter because you are too weak, and when you have reached high levels, every single bandit has DAEDRIC armor and weapons! That is just plain stupid! Another major flaw of Oblivion is the Fast Travel system. Another fundamental part of RPG gameplay is to actually travel through the lands. Begin in one city, do some quests there, then explore the lands until you find another town, be there for a while etc. Don't get me wrong, I like the Fast Travel feature, but I do NOT like that they are activated from the BEGINNING! RPGs are about exploring the lands, which makes this "feature" horrible! Morrowind, on the other hand, while having a travel system, encourages traveling in the lands much, much more. Of course Morrowind has its flaws as well. The graphics are actually very good in terms of terrain and overall graphics design (in my opinion). The character graphics, however, could have been made more detailed. Another flaw is the combat system which feels really stiff. Other than that I love Morrowind which is a great game. As is Oblivion, but it has its flaws. |
The great asset of Morrowind is mods after the fact. You can get mods that put NPCs on schedules, locks doors at night, makes their actions better, expands their dialogue, fixes the appearances, etc.
And look at the graphics expander! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWD2GOWHmFs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrS1u...eature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2UauUhXIOc&feature=fvw Now, what really gets me about Oblivion (among other things) is that the players don't seem to know the Elder Scrolls world very well. :( |
Yup I know about the mods, in fact I have all the mods you mentioned and more.. perhaps about 30-40 mods I think ;)
Hmm, perhaps I should pick up Morrowind again sometime soon... |
:D
Awesome. I don't because my home copy is for xbox But I mod for fun when visiting my Aunt and Uncle. |
