Besides, do you guys know which free media software is allowing to play movies in something like slow motion? It would make it so much easier to find interesting shots... Right now I'm using VLC Media Player.

VLC is pretty much tops, I think, as it's the only freebie I've found that allows you to step a frame at a time. The big downer is that you can't step backwards. Because of this, when I know I'm getting close to the frame I want, I just start snapping every frame. Then I open them all with Preview or Image Viewer and navigate around with the arrow keys until I've decided what frame is sharpest.

For the stereoscopic shots I use Adobe Premiere, since I can step forwards and backwards through both left and right views at the same time, but Premiere is very non-free, obviously!

Any tips on how to do that? I have downloaded VLC yesterday, so, I'm kinda newbe :P
