I left both of my machines running while I was at school, got in 4 and a half WU's but they haven't shown on the team stats yet. So far only me and HNM are folding right now. Do it for science, do it for humanity, fold for us, team number 199235. It's an easy way to make a positive difference in the world.

Anyone else consider folding with the GPU client? You finish work units twice as fast and get a hefty points bonus as well for doing harder work.

I'm folding on the GPU client sometimes (it lags vlc so can't when watching things, plus obviously not while gaming), otherwise just running the SMP2 client on a Phenom II X4.

Aargh. Wine sucks for folding. I'll start up the gpu console client and it will complete a work unit. When the core shuts down because the job is done, Wine interprets the closing as a crash, and stops fah. When I manually restart, it says "no work data. Deleting unlinked results file". Folding just starts, folds a WU, crashes wine, and then folds the exact same WU again and again without sending any results.

F*ck! It seems I'm always ranting about my parents. Mom noticed the noise from the Desktop and asked what it was. I told her waht protein folding is and why it needs computing power, then about folding@home. She then proceeded to call up my dad and generally cause a ruckus over me "allowing others to rent out our computers and leaving that box on all night". I then tried to explain that it was only my computer, and that folding uses almost no network resources, not too much power, and is for a great cause, and most importantly free, but it didn't seem to help much. Oh well, don't want to make this a whole page rant.

Basically, I'm not going to be folding for a while until I can figure out how to fold without them noticing. My parents aren't totally clueless, however. They know when a computer is on and when it is off. Also, my desktop is the only decent machine I have other than my server, which is out of commission for the moment because its awaiting a hard drive replacement. (lost it due to read head stiction, iss cold outside, and the closet doesn't have vents) It's just as loud as my desktop though.

Update: Found I can run my computer without the case fans on if I underclock the CPU to 2.5GHz at 1.25V. I unplugged the power led too, so it's quite inconspicuous, started folding back up, going to see if anyone notices... <.< >.>

Heh, I actually tried that a while ago, my dad basically told me that I should run it "the way it was intended" and be happy with what I have. And that is coming from the guy who modified the exhaust system in his truck for .1 more horsepower.

Good news!

That's right, 100 complete work units. Not bad for a three man team. *high four*

And if you're not on the folding team, fold for us! We don't give away free lanyards like overclock.net, but we have Neytiri.

Nice
I've hopefully just increased my output again a bit, plus I'll try to remember to reactivate the GPU client when I'm AFK (I keep forgetting to )

Also, at your parents, yet again
