By the way, great videos, Alan!
It wasn't terribly expensive, actually.

All told, I think it cost me 700-800 USD.

It really helps to split a room with someone and split the hotel cost with them.

@CyanRachel: you are on the list.

@Helicoradian: awesome! It will be cool to meet you next year.

@Raiden: yeah I was about the same...maybe a little bit more due to my flight.

You live in the US, Raiden. I'm not sure how much extra a transatlantic flight is. If I do manage to build up enough money to go, I wouldn't think twice in saying the chance of me going is 100%.
Sure, there's an entire year in between then and now, anything could happen

Aketuan, will you add me? I give you 70% - & it's a cautious figure. (I figure I'll have to swim across the Atlantic if I don't have enough for the airfare...)

Irayo DoP Glad you liked the videos.

As for saving for the trip, well there's about twelve months to save for it. This is only a guess, but if we say, as a sporting job, it was to cost 2000 Euros, which would perhaps cover flight, accommodation, food and spending money. Then that would be 166 Euros a month to save...or 41 Euros a week. Perhaps that might seem a bit more possible....maybe?

The hotel where we stayed at, with a group discount was $110 per night (apart from the Saturday which was $144), if you do an internet search you will be able to find out the cost of flights and stuff like that. Then you will be able to tot up a more realistic cost for it.

It would be great to see you there. Hope that helps a little.

Alan

haha guess what, I was just about to ask you how much it turned out for you - AFAIK you're the only one that flew across the Atlantics on your ikran to meet the ToS family...

Well it looks like the European Ikran Squad is shaping up nicely for the next year! & your info is very helpful, irayo ma tsmukan!

Nah, there's no need to swim ma tsmuke, just send yourself airmail!

Sorry, I'll go and sit on the naughty branch of home tree...

Really hope you can make it ma Apache. It would be great to increase the European clan attendance with our North American aysmukan sì aysmuke.

Well I was the only one to fly over the pond, but there was a fellow Englishman there who now lives in Alaska (almost got his accent back - Hehehe) and another guy who originated from Germany but has grown up in the US.

But you know what, it didn't matter one jot where you were from. It really was just like one big family. That's the only way I can describe it. We all brought something of ourselves to contribute in our own way. Just OUTSTANDING!

I like the look of that list. Lots of names, lots of 100%s too. I will make every possible effort to be there

You should definitely try to make it.

If I may bring up a suggestion which I think was mentioned briefly while organizing the first Seattle meetup... I know we have a lot of time between now and June/July 2012 to save up money, but if people are interested in saving even more, then staying at a hostel might be the way to go. Yeah, may not be as comfortable as a hotel room, but they are more economical and some can be quite nice. I just did a very quick search, and it looks like the average hostel bed in Seattle costs an average of 30 USD per night.

Yeah, you are right Empty Glass. It was mentioned previously. It's a good idea that should go into the melting pot. It might be that there is a range of accommodation for people to suit their pockets. We can always see what level of discount we can get at hotels as well. Also pairing up cuts the cost in half too. Thanks for he suggestion. Hope to see you there

I just realized how stupid that was.

I live only four hours away from Seattle.

Well, still, plane tickets aside, actually being there; the hotel, food, souvenirs, etc. didn't cost me too much.

This year then for the June meetup, booking lots of rooms in the hotel got a discount for the group - that could be arranged again, I think.

Dreaming Of Pandora - I just had a quick look at flights. Obviously, it's a little hard to get any real info without even potential dates, but it's looking to be ~£670 - I guess it should be similar for you since you're nearby, maybe slightly more due to Ireland having less flights.

Yeah, that will definitely need to be thought out...
