Are you going to go back and tag all the participants so that we can associate names and faces? Thank you for sharing these!

Errr... Well I would if I knew everyone's name. Hahaha! Now there's an idea...

Anyway, yesterday was cosplay day. This must have been the largest gathering of Na'vi in one place on the planet. All I shall say is that the crowds were not disappointed! Here's the latest:

Today we will be having Na'vi lessons given by some of the more proficient speakers and Dr Paul Frommer!!!! Then in the evening we will be having a final Clan Meal together.

After that our clan will disperse to the four winds...very sad only...until next time..?

I am so glad I could make even a tiny part of this event. There was literally one day out of the entire year when my schedule made it possible to move a day of a road trip to a Seattle stop and it coincided with the meet. I got to the Jon Landau event a little late after a 3 1/2 hour drive and had the privilege of asking him a question and meeting him in person, and seeing others that I knew only online - HNM, Alan, Empty Glass, Apache Blanca, Mikko Wilson. I couldn't stay for the screening but the next day I was able to make it over to the EMP in time to see the cosplay group show up before I had to take off on the next leg of the road trip across the border.

Guys, I am so in awe of what you have accomplished here. It may seem like a small, fannish meet up, but I see much, much more there, and so much potential for even more. I'm still digesting the implications. Can't wait to see more stories from those who had the privilege of spending more time there. BTW, whose was the outrageously tricked-out pickup parked at the BW Executive? You know who I mean :-)

Kaltx ma Sempu,

It was great to meet you and shake you hand at last after two years! Sorry I did get to meet your othe half, but there will be next time hopefully.

Ma eylan,

Afraid I didn't manage to get enough footage to make a video log for yesterday as it was full on videoing with the big video camera.

You will be glad to know that we managed to get the full 2 hour Na'vi lesson with Kayru Pawl. However it will require approval before release.

The lesson was excellently structured, covering general conversation topics, like who you are, where you come from, what you like and the weather etc. These were firstly demonstrated by Kayru Pawl with three of the LearnNavi stalwarts: Txon Rolyu, Ray (sorry mate I can't remember you LearnNavi name - memory like a sieve!) and Prrton, who had done a wonderful job of helping to prepare the lesson and produce the slide presentation.

There was continuous repetition, repetition... ...and then sessions undertaken in pairs to practice. The Na'vi alphabet was gone through along with how to create the sounds as well as explaining ' ...the glockle stop. Plus a shed load of other stuff that you will get to see in due course.

After the lesson we all walked across the road back to the hotel for the clan meal, which was a buffet. Kayru Pawl spent copious amount of time with everyone and the was a heartfelt speech by Rainbowwarrior1993 before he had the leave. Mikko then gave a closing address with much cheering and clapping along the way.

There was a group photo with Kayru Pawl and also the Avatar couples photo! Yep, we had no less than 6 couples, three of which were international.

Sooner or later though, you have to wake up and now we have started to return to our home clans, until Toruk Makto calls again...

Oh Alan the cosplay video was awesome!!!

And ma Sempu...did you know I live right next to you in Washougal? I know my profile says Redlands, CA that's just where I'm going to school. My house is in Washougal, and I'm there now. Also, have you been to Van Mall Cinetopia and seen what's in the arcade there?

Oh Txon Rolyu, I am sorry to disappoint both of us but I am in the "other" Vancouver to the north (actually, Vancouver Island).

Tell me, what is in the arcade?

Well, I'm currently still in New York enjoying the mega hot (for me anyway) weather. I head home to the UK tomorrow...very sad only, as I leave the land where a lot of my friends are. Sooner or later, though, you have to return home. It keeps things special when we do meet up - and we will ma eylan.

Today I did manage to take a ride on a sailing ship past the Statue of Liberty today. I also made it to the cinema to watch The Dark Knight. The cinema was full and I ended up having to sit almost right at the front..."what's wrong with this picture?"

There was quite a bit of audience participation, which is not something I'm used to. What really gave me a smile was seeing Wollaton Hall as Wayne Manner as it is only 7 miles away from where I live!

Not only that, but I also saw a shed load of New York streets that I recognised, especially as I had walked down some of them earlier in the day, like Wall Street. I must admit I came out of the cinema smiling to myself as I was effectively walking into the film set of the film I had just watched! How cool was that!

Anyway, safe journies home for those who are on their way and Oel ngati kameie soon,

Eywa ngahu frakrr,

Alan

just got back after a 20+ hours journey & I am linking / crashing out, but it was the most fun-packed week for me in a veeeeeeery long time! In all this lifetime probably...

Gone to catch some rack but a HUGE IRAYO for Alan's video's, Mikko's photos and all who made it possible!

Off... ... ...

Added at 8:12 pm Spain:

the cosplay was a pure rush; I guess I am not feeling sad yet cos I am still surfing the adrenaline wave; everything MOMS / Fiyerwall say in this Guide to a Txantsan cosplay is true, now I've got my sample!

A massive irayo for this post, for Sarah's tutorial, & for Candace's paint job, if it were not for you guys I wouldn't be doing cosplaying. Like MOMS said, "If this doesn't raise your self-esteem to the sky then, probably, nothing shall..." yer man.

It is amazing how so many people of all ages & nationalities "want a little piece of you", the best - for me - were little kids, about 5-6 years of age, one pointed at us & said very seriously with a expression: "I saw you in the movie!" This family came from about a block away, the mother shouting "Avatar! Avatar!" & waving her hands, & running towards us, then hugging us & saying how wonderful Avatar was & she couldn't wait for the sequels. A couple of little kids from other family about same age kept asking: "Are you from Avatar???" & on hearing 'yes' they ran to us and hugged us in a genuine & spontaneous children's manner. I was thinking: "That's the next Avatar generation growing up..." How cool is that?

Well, I'm back home now and not quite so exhausted. (The logical result of leaving the Western at 7am Monday, and getting to sleep at 2pm PST Tuesday.) Thanks guys for the awesome time! Definitely reappearing next year. (Eywa permitting.)

I haven't been in this thread at all, since the only electronics I had with me was a not-very-smart phone with no data plan and a cheap camera. However, I did find a couple of amusing things on the way to Seattle:

"America, f--- yeah?"

Also, as I mentioned in the hilarious pictures thread, I think Jake took the suggestion of blue jeans a bit too seriously.

I don't have many photos, since I knew that Alan and Mikko were taking far more better than I could. (So, logically, I took a lot of photos of people talking photos. )

However, I do have a macro, since this is pretty much what I felt like after coming back:

Well, I'm very nearly home! I'm currently sat at St Pancras International awaiting my train home. There was a band playing in the station when I arrived! Go figure. I guess the Olympics are getting in full swing.

Anyway, I can't wait to get home now, cos then I can see you all again. Yay!

Nahhh! They were waiting for you. Glad you made it back; bit like diving into the Mariana Trench coming over here.

It was great to see everybody! I think I managed to squeeze in at least a fleeting "hello" to all of the ToS members who were present, including HNM, Eltu, and others who hadn't made the prior Meetup. Fantastic!
