Should humans still be the villains by the second film or should another set of villains emerge that forces both Humans and Na'vis to reconsider their hostilities toward one another.
I had quite enough of humans being the villain in the first. I'd love to see more of Pandora explored and a new enemy emerging on the horizon for both groups to deal with. The Cosmos is after all a huge an unforgiving place. Apparently some have hinted at the appearance of some bug like creatures whether Alien or Native to Pandora itself remains to be seen. |

Yes, but this is not Star Trek.

You are correct - Cameron has not committed to the nature of the conflict. Our disagreement on the effect of adding a different foil for the Na'vi, and Jake in particular, is to be expected. It would be a very sharp corner to turn to have both human and Na'vi on the same side, or at least on compatible terms. That said, I too think that a mere continuation of the current positions of the two sides would prove an unrewarding story to watch. I have no human bloodlust, by the way. Please don't assert what *I* want. What I don't want to see is a third party - another race besides human and Na'vi. Avatar is a classic good vs. evil story as much as it is an environmentalist's dream come true. For the series to be consistent within it's framework, who is good and who is evil needs to be clear. If the lines are to be muddied, it would be interesting to see the dark side of the Na'vi, contrasted with something human that is good. It's a grim future for the "home team," but I doubt the entire race is going to be utterly corrupt and of ill repute. At the core of it, though, I think we can agree on one thing: there needs to be a new twist for Avatar to keep on being the special thing that it is.

I had posted my trilogy idea on AvF a couple of months ago which detailed what I thought would be the direction JC would take the two next movies.
In their most basic form, I said that the sequel would be a civil war between Na'vi tribes and the third would be a return in humans just when the Na'vi are at their weakest. If I find my thread I'll post my idea. ![]() |

There was never any mention of humans being at risk from extinction, and I think that if there is eventually some kind of understanding reached between humans and Na'vi, it's a lot more likely to happen at the end of Avatar 3.

Taking cues from the Survival Guide, I would think that there will be a second group of Humans that are the "good guys"---I want the RDA to continue being the bay guys....As the second film will be in the oceans of Pandora, I can see deep research station(s) manned by a conservation group there to oppose the RDA---maybe they tapped into the RDA datafeed, aware of what happened & fed the information back to Earth.....
That would also reflect what is happening right now, which is what Jim wants a light shined on........ Just my thoughts-- |

The RDA won't be in the sequel, it's going to be Pandoran conflict, I'm expecting the RDA to be back for the third movie.
