Default Na'Vi-Human Genetics... Children?

Okay, here's my thought:
Jake and Neytiri are going to have kids...they should at least. So.... are they going to have four or five fingers? Technically any children will be mostly Na'vi and only, say, one third human. We don't know how much of Jake/Tom's DNA was mixed in, and since the digits (fingers and toes) are the biggest tell, I'd say any children they have may well look like full Na'vi.

Now if, by the time the sequel comes around, Neytiri has given birth to a child, it will be only a few years old and it would tie her up in the action department. The other side of the coin is, she is expectant in the sequel or has her baby toward the end of the movie giving us an uplifting end.
So help me if Cameron pulls a Lion King move it's going to be really annoying.

Well, it depends. The Human DNA could even be stronger than the Na'vi. It's all because JC didn't tell us about reproduction, we can't tell a thing about Na'vi genetics.

I'd guess the human DNA would have a limited effect, especially over multiple generations as the amount remaining reduces each time... the avatars are still mostly Na'vi.

I suppose it's all about which Genes are dominant and which are recessive as to the features of their child.

What do you mean by,"...tie her up in the action department..."? That she won't fight? Maybe. But she(and Jake) would be even more protective and deadly if she had to fight someone or more than one someone to protect her child or children. That would be very interesting to see in the sequel, trequel, or both.

True, but it depends on what stage it is at - if she had to carry a baby around then that would certainly limit her.

Yeah. True. But if she WAS in that situation, there's no doubt that she'd fight if she had to.

Does if ever bother you knowing that all of us fans can only speculate about the sequel and trequel, and then when we think of something that would most likely happen(if somethig else were to happen), we get really excited and then we have the reminding thought of,"It still might not happen. Mr. Cameron is the one who's making these films"?

I can't say it really bothers me. Actually, I like reading about everyone's speculations on the sequels, no matter how different they might be from what James Cameron is intending to make. This is an exciting time to be an Avatar fan. The universe is still young, and we have no idea what will be in the book and sequels yet we can't sit still thinking about them. Years from now we'll all probably look back on this time with incredulity and think "Remember when we used to think that that was going to be in the sequels?" So, I'm not bothered with trying to read Cameron's mind. I'm just enjoying the ride.

Not really - there are years to go after all, and if I get Jossed (contradicted by canon) in all of my fanfics, I get Jossed.

And besides, fandom thrives on speculation - I actually really dislike the attitude of 'we won't know until Cameron tells us'. We're fans! We speculate! It's part and parcel of it.

It doesn't bother me in terms of speculation. With fanfic it really varies - if it seems like a reasonable extrapolation, I don't have any problem, but fanfic that makes up details or major plot points (including relationships) annoys me. Either way though, JC pays a lot of attention to detail, so most reasonable predictions have a chance of keeping at least some basis in the sequel.

Hmmmm, we're on the same track. It used to bother me. It doesn't now because if I were to think of something interesting that I want to happen in the sequel or trequel and it is in it, I wouldn't be surprised by it because I've already seen it. And I WANT to be surprised. If what I had in mind is in one of the films, or if I were to know that what I thought of is in one of the films then it would ruin the fun for me. As well as many other people, I'm sure.
