Default Will the Humans Return?

So do you think that the RDA, another corporation, or an expedition force sent by a government will return to Pandora in the sequel or the third movie? There are several ISVs still enroute to Pandora and the sequel is said to take place a few years after the end of the first movie. I've also heard quite a bit of speculation that the RDA still has some form of presence on Pandora like a hidden base underwater. Others have said that the humans will not return at all and some other outside threat (the time of great sorrow) will take the place of humans as the antagonist in the other movies.

What are you thoughts?

In the third movie, it'd be too predictable for a sequel and I'm sure JC realises that. It'd be a better trilogy with humans returning in the third movie.

Yes, they will... There are still people who didn't get what they deserved (Selfridge and the miners), and there wouldn't be that much point to a movie without an antagonist. Not to mention, I think the overall arc of the films will involve the Na'vi actually saving the humans and showing them how to restore Earth in Avatar 3.

Humans now or in the future always have a will. They aren't going to let natives stop them. They'll probably make up a story of what happened, so the governments of more countries will get involved with the RDA's initiatives, and send more forces... much more advanced forces. I expect we'll see more than just marines from America entering the fight. Unobtanium is a world resource.

Though I do agree with DoP in that it'd be too predictable for Cameron to put them in the second film. The end of the saga is most likely where he'll enter them in again... that is assuming he'll only go as far as three films. It isn't set in stone that this will be a trilogy. For all we know, this could end up like the Star Wars saga, as far as installments go. If this were to happen, though, the films together might come close to topping $10 billion.

I doubt that - the RDA is a corporation, the world is full of wars and terrorism and governments are busy with that. The RDA are restricted in terms of weapons and actions anyway as conditions of being allowed to... If anything the RDA are more likely to lose their license for being failures than given government backing.

...does anyone read the backstory?

Mmm... not really. The RDA is the sole operating agency on Pandora (...or, was). No other corporation has the power (or resources) to manage mining like the RDA can, as far as we know. The RDA also has purchase power (mercenaries), so I assume any country heavily relying on the superconducter would put troops into the equation to eliminate competition. In Dune, it mattered not if conflicts were happening between houses; the emperor could summon them to rise to protect the resource that powers everything: spice. The subject is like a drop-everything issue. Unobtanium, I assume, has the same effect.

I'm not sure the RDA is going to go down so easily. Revoking their licence would be cutting off Earth's only supply line to Unobtanium and I'm sure no one would be eager to do that. RDA can simply use this as blackmail and by twisting the story of what happened, rally more military organisations to Pandora. It's clear that they will return and they'll be bringing a storm with them.

Given the Investment the RDA has made on Pandora and in the ISV fleet, without a doubt they'll be back. Realizing the importance of unobtanium, world governments will more then likely back the RDA in regaining control of Pandora Even if they didn't, who could stop them? They have the funds to hire their own private army and have the means to get to back.

This wouldn't happen until the third film though considering travel time, preparation, ect..

Depends how far the second film is in the future.
People still don't get it though... read the backstory. Governments don't HAVE the resources to give to corporations because they're busy invading each other and fighting terrorists. The RDA may be able to hire as many marines as they want, but they're limited by their contract in what they can use. If they failed, their contract would get given to someone else who can use that they are allowed to.

But what other corporation is there besides the RDA who has the kind of power to mine Pandora?

...That's got me thinking; will a new corporation be introduced?!

Well Norm and Max are human and they stayed on Pandora. Soooo... yes?

I'm not sure. They aren't the RDA though so I'm not sure what to say.

I thought about this before. Possibly the RDA, and a new corporation?
Maybe even a paramilitary organisation?

I think that the group that is most likely to be introduced is the human group who, in canon terms, wrote the survival guide

Wow!

I never thought of it that way!

Yes YES! The survival team!! ...But then, how would they arrive?? Seems like the RDA were the only ones who could afford such space traffic like going all the way to Pandora.
