W-w-wait! You saw Avatar in 48FPS? 60FPS? 120FPS?
How is that even possible? And please don't say frame interpolation because that's fake crap and not a solid foundation to make an assessment on HFR.
With reallife footage HFR might indeed look strange, in particular when youre eyes aren't accustomed to that. With CGI however it can only look better and the infamous 'soap opera effect' didn't occur with the king of the goblins or Gollum in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit.
Avatar relies heavily on CGI so the effect might vanish completely.
The other thing is 3D. In order to deliver a clear, sharp and 'physical' spectacle not only brightness and resolution bit also framerate is of incremental importance!
Thanks to HFR The Hobbit's 3D was the best I've seen since Avatar. Didn't save the movie though.^^
