I believe one of the best feelings in the entire world is being at a gig or a club.
The kind of clubs and sets I go to, there is never any fighting or people getting at each other, there is only absolute love for everyone around you, for the DJ and for the music. We often form circles or 'holes' in the crowd and have one person, random or a friend, do a solo dance in the middle of the ring for a minute or two and no matter how insane or crap their dancing is, they always get clapped, hugged and high-fived afterwards, just simply for being absolutely awesome and for just being who they are. I have done it many a time and I have to say, my dance style is uhh... "unique" but I always get the love, just like everyone else does.So I just wanted to hear your perspective... is being at a music gig or festival one of, if not the best feelings in the world for you? And have you ever been to a place where the feeling is as I spoke of?

Have you ever heard Paul Oakenfold live at Gatecrasher 19-06-99? This is something that I have never experienced at a party or club. Just listening to this set makes me feel like I am there. Listen to it and you will see.
It's been years since I went clubbing or raving, but I still remeber the amazing time I had dancing and making great friends. I can't dance half as well as I used to be able too, but I will still do a little at home when no ones watching lol

Hehe yeah dancing in general is pretty fun, whether it's alone or with friends. I'm a bit of a bedroom raver myself.

I'll probably be in my 40s or 50s before I can lol. I'd love to send you this set if your interested in hearing it. It's over 10 years old, but soooo dayum amazing.

There is an event called Glade in this country that I have had my eye on for a couple of years now, it's a camping music festival combining the best of D&B and Electronica with interactive art installations. Sounds like an excellent place to go to. Problem is the price, it's pretty steep.

@ HNM I have never been to a place with a pit or anything so I guess i didn't really know what it was like. I just kind of naturally assumed that everyone was out to give each other a broken nose and that no one really cared if people got trampled on. Not quite sure what gave me that idea, but thanks for clarifying it a bit anyway.

You have to at least attend one rave in your life... the community, the music, the lights, its so incredible. It gives me the feeling of being free. Raves, concerts, clubs, wherever. As many of you know I'm a raver so the additction to the music, lights, and community is a high flying freedom... and I don't need drugs or liquor to have fun... I just go packing my rave gloves, and glowsticks, and the attitude of staying up all night and dancing and having fun. Being a DJ is also that as well, except I'm behind the music. My friend and I plan smaller type rave/trance parties and we dance all night long. I'm trying to up our parties, hopefully by renting a place so we can have a bigger dance area and invite more people.
The music injected into my veins, the ability to be up, dancing, and full of energy, the love from the other ravers... they're just nights to let all your worries behind you and feeling the love. As us ravers say; PLUR on! Peace Love Unity Respect. Thats what I say, thats what I preach. Fkeu'itan, we need to rave together someday. And Fkeu'itan and madman, you missed it last night. I was on a chat using my cam with a couple people here and I brought in my DJ lights and fog machine and randomly I'd play a song, get up with my red and blue Inova lights, and dance. Bedroom raver, I love it. I remember one trance gig I DJ'd at I played the song Alex MORPH Walk The Edge (Alex MORPH remix) and I went out and danced, and the next thing I knew I was crying... right there dancing. The song affected me so much I cried. I even cried during a song I played last night on the web cam Thanks for bringing this up and letting me express myself. We need to rave together

Let's do it brother. We should go see a Euro headliner the next time they come through LA or San Fran. I really really want to go to another party. Been over 10 years.

Mine is the exact opposite of yours I think. I get the best feeling from going in pits where people are getting pulverized at death metal shows, total adrenaline rush.

The weird thing is, I'm into completely different music, but I kind of understand in a way. The only places I go play metal, but there's a feeling of respect and understanding between many people, even if it's not visible like you described. When we have a circle pit or a wall of death, when someone gets knocked down (happens fairly often) we help them. Even though people do get hurt, if they don't just get back up again then someone will help them up and let them get out of the pit.
It's an amazing feeling, but as Devourment said, it's probably more adrenaline based. Personally, I just can't really understand electronic music, it all sounds too similar for me and I prefer something with vocals and actual instruments rather than just sound effects. I have heard a few electronic songs I don't mind so much, but they have been a lot more relaxed and musical than a lot of electronic music, some of them had actual vocals.

Most of you know that I enjoy different types of music depending on my mood. I have never been much for clubbing, etc. Its probably due to the fact that I don't have any friends who are into it around here and my husband is not. That being said, I love dancing at weddings, etc. I have older tastes so we end up dancing to that. Every wedding I have been to that has had dancing the people laugh and clap their hands when they see others dancing in the most silliest of ways.
It would be interesting to go to a rave sometime. I know that my husband would never go for it though. He likes folk and bluegrass music and prefers acoustic music instead of electric. Me...I'll listen to anything mostly .
