Default Your Lists (Wants list-small version)

We all have something in our minds that we want to do. Some of us act out of impulse and do these things. But even those kind of folk think or dream about something that is out of their reach (ex. a gym jockey may want to distance run, but he doesn't have a good pair of legs atm). Than there are some of us who just 'wish' for things to happen. I have a reason to believe that we want to let our wish to be known to others to see, and to know what's stopping us.

We are all committed, but there is no shame in asking for a lending hand. Whatever will help you towards your goal is what were here for, and what this thread is about. Take this for instance:

~When I come home from school and do my business. I keep in mind that I need to do study 'rehearsals' 3 times a day. I think of studying as something thats more dreadful than an exam. The worst part about it is, I don't know how to not believe this! It's horrible.
---
Now I don't know how to get past this problem of mine. Does anyone have a possible solution?

I'm not quite sure I understand to be honest...

Are you saying that studying is something that you hate doing? If so, welcome to the club.

What I do (although this may actually be drastic and actually quite stupid) is leave it 'till late in the evening. That way I get to go out and do what i want after college and when I come back, it's too late to call any of my friends and ask them if they want to hang out, it's too late to listen to music or play games or I might wake my parents etc. - all the possible distractions are removed.

Like I say... it may be a stupid idea for obvious reasons, but it works for me personally.

Waiting till the last minute, heh. I used to do that. My father says these things are all mental. I think hes right. But I can't wrap my head around some things, like studying. It makes me go bezerk sometimes.

Yeah I believe they are all mental 'barriers' shall we say and it's really quite difficult to conqure them. I can't do that myself.

That's the thing when you leave it 'till last minute... finishing something or learning something then becomes a necessity so I find I tend to work with a lot more focus or absorb things better (If i'm revising for an exam).

Like I said though, this often leads deadlines not being met etc.

My 'theory' on getting rid of this kind of problem is to make schedules, and not dread anything that I know alot about of. For instance, I would dread reading economics homework. I won't all that much if I just don't think about the homework, but know that by 5pm, I got to read this book so I won't have the problem of forgetting something in school. That something being invaluable information on a test.

I like to force Rational Ignorance on myself (intentionally not knowing things). Although my curiosity for the things that I know nothing about can conquer my daily goals, throwing everything amok. Sometimes, this doesn't work. Take last night for instance. I had a nightmare that I was slitting someone's throat out of a large rage outburst. I don't see anything since I'm behind her, she simple bows her head. I wake up and wonder why I dream of such things, and I know this isn't the territory I want to cross, but this dream torments me in a little way that it distracts me from my daily activities.

The theory is starting to work out itself, but it has had a side effect. I'm scheduling more things that didn't need planning to begin with (ex. drawing). Even though more than half the time I never finish extra things on my lists, I get the essentials.
