Default Imagine you hadn't seen Avatar.

Imagine You had never seen Avatar.
Where would you be right now?

I think I would probably be eating junk food, playing the PS3 and not really caring much about anything in life, just bored and tired, trudging through every day and never really experienceing anything emotional. Just living out life. Also, of course, I would never have met anyone here and I would have missed out on so many strong friendships and stimulating discussions. I think I would have just been totally lost.

That is a way I am absolutely determined not to slip back into. I will do everything to fight it.

How about you?

I would just sit there and allow the feeling to pass. I know it's only temporary and that the mind is trying to trick me back into its old habits so why bother reacting to it when you know there's another option? That's my take on it... And something that I have been practicing for years, although haven't always been very successful at. That still doesn't stop me from doing what I need to do. Back on topic... I probably wouldn't be in this forum if Avatar didn't exist! And will most likely be even more depressed than before...

If I had never seen Avatar I'd:
- Care less about both my physical and mental health
- Waste my life playing MMO's
- Not know how to speak Na'vi
- Not have a hammock

I must quote this..

its strange.. since seeing Avatar, ive cared LESS about my physical appearence.. i stay natural just like the Na'vi do. I dont wear makeup, and i dont go to the gym... I also dont try to have abs.. cause its not what my natural body is.. to me, caring about physical looks is not a good thing.. cause its a pressure more so than a benefit.. IMO sorry

Ohh, I didn't mean looks, i was talking about health. And I too, have no plans on going to gym anymore. It's a waste of time.

Instead, I take a walk in the near by forest and often start jumping around on the rocks and trunks, sometimes I even climb on some trees. It is so much more fun than doing countless moves in the gym. It is not just a way to keep my physical health good, but going out in the nature every day also keeps my mental health up: keeps me sane in this insane world. Try it

I would be doing the same things I am now. Except I wouldn't be on the forums, even though I'm not on much anymore as it is. Avatar didn't change my lifestyle so whatever.

I barley remember my old life
So true... I was thinking about this the other day, how was my life before Avatar? I would just blissfully go throughout my day, just living life like this world wanted me to. But now my eyes are opened, I have found a new love for this earth, a reason for me to not want to be a part of humanity. Also... mental health. I meditate more often, I discuss things with myself in my head, try to look at both sides of the picture, a stronger reason to live by the ravers motto of PLUR - Peace Love Unity and Respect. I don't hate and I can't judge. I have new places for me to imagine, new things to imagine, somebody new to be this is just a broad overview

Avatar gives you new eyes to See. I'm never tired of saying that.

Perhaps I haven't changed so much my lifestyle; mostly because I am not able to with all the school things and cannot just pick a train and go by myself to some nice green place where to spent the evening on. But I am eating a lot less, try to look nicer to the people and else.

However, I don't think about Avatar as Neytiri, Pandora or the Na'vi anymore. That's the form, the envelope; what I keep inside is the message.

And that's something I cannot ever forget.

A very good post, Fkeu, and an intersting question to ponder...I'd like to think I would have found the "path back to myself". Some of you know already, having cancer surgery was already a pretty big wake-up call and a major shift in my life. But without Avatar, I would never have seen so clearly just how far off my own path I'd strayed...and I never would have found all of you, which I really think has been the thing that has made the most impression on me, really convincing me that I need to find myself again and live the life I was meant to live, and not just what the people in my life expected of me. I guess I don't like to think of where I would have been without Avatar, and I'm very lucky that I don't have to.

From now on, whenever im about to do something insane, i always think to myself, Jake/Neytiri would do it without hesitation, then I just do it lol, or in some situations I like to ask myself what would Neytiri/Jake do now??

Default Imagine you hadn't seen Avatar.

I really don't want to imagine what my life would be like had I not seen Avatar. First off, I would not have found Avatar Forums and ToS. I would not be almost three weeks into working out more than I ever have in my life. I would not be driven to enjoy our natural world whenever possible. I would not be volunteering some of my summer weekends to habitat protection. I would not be planning my first big nature hike in 14 years (half dome f t w). And above all, I would not be as happy as I am today.

I have absolutely no idea how I'd be handling the problems I have at the moment. It's only because of everyone here I can at all.

Without Avatar, I'd just be another skxawng, never even realising what was missing
