Anyone for Stargate Universe?
The season premier aired on thursday in New Zealand and I really enjoyed the first two episodes. Seems to be shaping up as a solid series.

I love this show, Spock! I just got the first half of season 1 DVD set, and that goes in the queue to watch after I finish BSG. I think it's going to get a little bit hokey, kind of like Stargate Atlantis was in comparison to the Original Jack O'Neill SG-1.
Jack does look like he's put on a pound or two, eh? Washington will do that to a guy. Not sure who my favorite character is yet, but I lean strongly towards Eli. I just love the idea of a computer gaming geek suddenly finding himself billions of lightyears from Earth. After all, he was just minding his own business. Gotta get me a YOU ARE HERE T-Shirt. That says it all, doesn't it? |

Indeed. This series is what the old Lost in Space could have been had the writers not turned Dr. Smith into comic relief (more like comic disaster). But that was the 60's, and we've learned an awful lot about "science fiction" since then.
Carlyle is magnificently evilish, in a typically elegant, British sort of way. The thing that's best about the writing: you never really know what twist the characters are going to bring up. Rush is a good example. You know he's got an ego the size of Australia, but he's also had some amazingly human moments where you actually feel for the guy. And Matt! Good grief, they don't get any squeakier clean behind the ears looking, yet he's obviously got demons....and a rather prolific sex drive. Illegitimate kid back home and everything. TJ....no saint she....
Spoiler:
All in all, an interesting random chunk of humanity, all bottled up in an enormous ancient starship. Anything goes... Last edited by Taw Makto; 05-29-2010 at 11:54 PM. |

I'm some episodes ahead of ya, since I'm following them as they air in USA, but let me just say... initially, I did not like the episode a lot. It wasn't really.. stargate-ish. However, the second half of the season is a loooot nicer

I haven't seen the new series yet. I'm a big fan of SG-1 and Atlantis wasn't as good as I would have liked, so I'm not sure about this one yet.

Yeah I love SG-U as well. Although I hated Atlantis and liked SG: 1.

I saw the first few episodes of season one a year back, I was really impressed with the show but sadly haven't devoted the hour or two to watch it every week.

I just can't get into SGU. I love Atlantis. Inmy opinion:
SGA > SG1 > SGU |
