Title is self-explanatory.
My favorite is the Megaman/Rockman series (except the RPG games). Why? The art style is very well done and stands apart with a flavor unique from most other games. If it weren't for that, I'm not sure I would like it as much as I do.

The Half-Life series (especially Half-Life 2, EP1 and EP2) will always have a place in my heart.

I WOULD say the Deus Ex series, but unfortunately Deus Ex 2 sucked horribly.
Too bad, since the first game is my favorite of all time.

Either Mass Effect, Ace Combat or Final Fantasy.
Even though I am yet to play ME 1, I was very impressed by it's sequel, story-wise and gameplay-wise. I have no doubt that ME3 is going to be something epic. Ace Combat is THE best jet fighter combat of all time. What makes the games so special is that is brings the traditional and very impressive story telling of the japanese and combines it with epic jet fighter battles. Like Metal Gear Solid but you're a pilot instead. The Final Fantasy series has to be my all time favourite. I have 7 of the 13 games and each one of them is mindblowing in their own ways. Obviously japanese story telling sells the series but the gameplay over the last decade or so gets ever more impressive. Overall the series has been very consistent in providing very impressive games and the amount of ideas they have is seemingly endless. My favourite games have to be FFVII, FFX-2 and FFXIII.

Monkey Island I-IV, because this is something unique like Avatar and Ron Gilbert is a genius.
Imho, the N1 of all adventure games.

Sonic the Hedgehog.
It's loud. It's fast. It's colourful. All these things are relevant to my interests. (Plus, Sonic 3 has arguably THE single greatest 16-bit game soundtrack in existance.)

Quote:
Retro for the win. With all of the BioWare and Valve games getting mentioned in here I was worried I would be the only one who liked something more old-fashioned lol. I like those games too, and I love other FPS/TPS games and more modern RPGs, but I have yet to see a game like that with the spirit of a game like Chrono Trigger, Super Metroid, Final Fantasy IV, or Megaman. The characters in the newer games are very well made, but sometimes as we gain freedom in the world of the more modern American made shooters and RPGs we lose out on what could be a really good storytelling opportunity. Just my 2 cents.

Empire Earth. Best strategy game in HISTORY.
It's one of the only game where you journey from pre-history to post-history. EE2 has 15 epochs. EE1: Awesome, and revolutionary in the path of historic strategy games. EE2: Excellent. Same good theme and loved gameplay, with modern graphics and systems and excellent plot. EE3: Interesting factions, each with their own units. Good domination mode. Overall, slightly further from perfection than it's predecessors.

Empire Earth is awesome.
I have only played EE1 and EE2 though - I like the second the best. It's just as complex as an RTS should be. I HATE all these dumbed-down RTSs today. Ugh.
