What Quaritch could have done...

Mornin. Another little question of mine.
It's rather obvious that Quaritch can be described using the Na'vi term of skxawng. So, put yourself in his shoes, and give your thoughts.

Not literally though. His shoes stink.

So, what could Quaritch have done instead or with the preemptive attack?

Not much.


In my long boring hours, I've tried to come up with better strategies, but really, that was a lose lose scenario.

Bomber is slow, and vulnerable, I'd considered a high altitude attack, but then you've got no accuracy. If you were to start high and dive, the floating mountains would have been an issue.

The only thing I could see working would have been a decoy. However, Quarich wouldn't have know that the Na'vi forces knew about the bomber, and wouldn't have thought to have a second more visible groups draw off their attack.

In closing, the Na'vi ****ed the RDA up. And there is nothing the RDA could do about it.

The Na'vi lost. They fought well but lost. Luckily for them Pandora has a biological supercomputer that can take control of the wildlife.

I agree, except...

...Pandora didn't have hand grenades. Quaritch's plan was fine. Even when the Na'vi came along, he beat them. Even when Eywa stepped in, he would've beat it too. Think about it: Jake is the only reason the mission failed, because he had a couple of grenades with him to sabotage the shuttle. If no grenades were used during the entire battle (which, to our knowledge, only two were ever used), the RDA would have won.

Simple as that. The plan was fine. Their only drawback was not thinking about how Jake himself was a trained marine, who knew about technical firepower.

At that point he's already taken part in genocide. He could surrender or he could leave.

All I could suggest personally is a guided tactical missile. Of course, you'd need an expert at the remote. And they might not have those.

Might not work so well with those strong magnetic fields. Would have to be purely ballistic.

A large number of people think that the battle at the end of the film was a battle between the Na'vi and the Humans; but ultimately it was never just a battle between the humans and the Na'vi, it was a battle between Eywa and the humans.

Jake did not choose himself to be Toruk Makto, Eywa chose him, it was Eywa that inspired Jake into battle and ultimately saved the Na'vi from destruction.

Guided weapons would not work because of the powerful magnetic fields, and even if the humans had guided weapons, Eywa would simply come up with something else to destroy the humans. The RDA were fighting a losing battle.

RDA had no access to real military equipment. They were using commandeered mine explosives as a heavy weapon.


If they had real equipment, I'd say a flight of fixed wing fighterbombers. They'd be able to maneuver the field at higher speed. Fortunately, they had none.

But that's just it; it's the other way around. The Na'vi volunteered to fight for their "overseer", which ultimately contols their survival by directly and indirectly manipulating the populations of plants and animals.

If you want to start giving names to different factions in a war though, I think
"The Na'vi" is fine, since Eywa can't really talk, and the Na'vi can control some of the animals too, via Tsaheylu.

Back on topic, yeah, the RDA was really kind of doomed. When Jake ran in the hammerhead in the beginning I actually realized that since it is bulletproof, it would make the perfect battering ram to use against the RDA.

That was what really screwed them IMO.
