Default Avatar Communities Film Project, 'Our Only Home' - Premier

Kaltxi!

The Avartar Communites Film Project:
You may be aware that some time ago an Avatar Communities Film Project was started. The purpose of this project was to take one of the messages from James Cameron's film, Avatar, namely the need to look after our home planet, and make our own film on the subject.

Well three months later our film is now complete. In total 20 of us have been involved from both the 'Avatar Forums' and 'Tree of Souls' communities. The contributors to the film have come from nine countries around the world to film sections that were then edited together to become the film 'Our Only Home'.

In addition to the film an App for the iPhone and iPod is being spear headed by Unil Makto that will incorporate the film and also a quiz covering our home planet. This will be free to download. Work is still ongoing to embed the film into the app and getting it through review. A further post will be made when it is available.

Although the film is in English, subtitled versions have also been created for those who took part from non-English speaking countries. We are indebted to AnlungTR from Brazil, Na'vi_supporter from Czech Republic, Tsu'at from Finland and Jake's Mango from Germany who have provided the translations.

'Our Only Home' Premier:
So it is fitting, on the eve of the release of Avatar SE in the cinemas, that we are able to premier our Avatar communities film to you all. Enjoy.

The You Tube Channel for the film can be found here:

Czech Republic subtitles version:

Finnish subtitle version:

German subtitle version:

Portuguese subtitle version:

More To Come:
In additon to the main film a 'making of' is currently being put together with information on how the film was made and thoughts from those who took part. Information on when this and the App will be available will be posted in due course.

Irayo. Eywa ngahu.

Alan

Hey...I feel like I've commented on this before LOL

Again, you did a phenomenal job, Alan. If you have any more film ideas in the future, hit me up. It would be my pleasure to work with you again. I really enjoyed myself while filming.

I hope everyone enjoys watching the film

@ Josie20: Really? I wonder where that was?

Irayo tsmukan. But as you know it was one great team effort and I certainly could not have done any of this without everyone's enthusiasm and dedication to making it happen and seeing it through. I really could not have had a greater bunch of good people to take this journey with. I really hope everyone involved has enjoyed and gain from it in their own way.

Oel ngati kameie friend,

Alan

Kaltxi everyone and irayo. I really don't know how to respond to all the words of appreciation and support for our film other than to say a heart felt IRAYO!

This is the biggest undertaking I have ever done. I have done so many things in the past that have either failed or ended up being abandoned. I was extremely determined for this not to go the same way, especially with so many people trusting me from around the world to make it happen. The stakes for me were pretty high and I would not have forgiven myself if I had failed to deilver what I said I would do to those involved.

We still have various things to polish off, such as the 'making of', DVDs for those who took part, the App for the iPhone that Unil Makto is working on and getting our film put on iTunes. But we are now at the top of the long climb up our 'Ikran Mountain' and neytiri has just come to offer support. We just have to catch our Ikrans now and fly off...

@HNM - I know you showed interest at the beginning and thank you for that. You never know there might be other community projects along the way.

@Marley - Ditto. You made the right choice to concentrate on your exams. You only get one shot at them. But there can be other community projects. Hope you got the results you wanted and all the best for the future.

@DoP, AllyCat and LA - Thank you for your comments. They are appreciated by all of us. Yes, please copy the links to your friends and family. Let them know that the community you are part of does try to make a difference.

@Josie20 and CyanRachel - Maybe we'll have to think about something after the dust is settled? There have been one or two who have said they would like to do it again.

@Sempu - Ahh, not sure how to respond to your words. Just taken aback really. I never saw it as a leadership role by any means. I just knew I have a real obligation to you all to make it happen, to keep you all informed along the way and provide encouragement the best way I could. We did a 'tree hugging' thing at work once where they looked at leadership styles. Mine was not to lead from the top or behind but sort of 'within'. Kinda making sure no one is left behind. I was so concious of not treading on peoples toes, especially with people I had not met before from around the world. Yet you have all been so obliging, enthusiastic, friendly....AARRGGHH so much I can't describe it. You all mean so much to me now. A new group of friends I never had 3 months ago.

When I look back to when I first stepped out of the cinema bewildered having just seen Avatar for the first time, I really would not in my wildest of dream imagined I would be here. I really am so grateful. I now know what 'oel ngati kameie' really means.

Eywa nagu,

Alan

Alan
Wow... those words were really touching Alan I'm not joking, I'm almost tearing a little And yes, I think we all wonder where in the world we would've been now without Avatar, if our view upon our mother-nature would still be the same... and without the caring family of friends we have here... who would we then have turned to in the look of trust and care. Our usual friends? Correct me if I'm wrong... but I don't think so This small community that once started as a Avatar forum has really grown up to one small family, all with it's different sort of members. Debating ones... Spamming ones... Joking ones... Mature ones... Wise ones... Musician ones... Yep, a whole bunch of people from all around the world mixed together into one big awesome family!

ALL IN THE NAME OF AVATAR!!! Thousands of Thanks to you JC

That sounds like a good idea. How do we do that?

Amazing job, Alan!

I do not think the film could have come out any better! I am so honored to say that I worked with so many great people and that I was able to contribute to such a great cause. Even if it was only a small portion. I hope that many will see this and it will impact and inspire them as it inspires me. Great job ma tsmukan! If you ever need more help from some people with any projects again I would gladly offer my help a second time!

Hey Gunny. Irayo. I glad you were on board and gave it your all. I feel privileged to have met you all (metaphorically) and been able to make this film together. Yeah, the hope is we do inspire others. There's still a few bits on the go, like Unil Makto's app and the 'making of' - liked your out takes by the way! Yeah, you never know we might do something in the future, who knows.

Kiyevame,

Alan

Kaltxi LA,

Thanks for comment. As for the App, that is still under final review and we will post and update when it is complete with details on how to get it.

I want too!

Fantastic demonstration of leadership by Alan. There were so many ways a project like this could have stalled, and he kept it moving and kept everyone involved. That's a rare skill, believe me.
