I recently got a new imac... it's pretty spiff and I adore all the stuff I can do.. but the unfortunate thing is, my copy of PE 2 won't work on it! This totally screws with my Avatar and plant photo editing plans! I do altered flower photos as notecards and pictures as well as other stuff.
I can't afford buying it new or used from Amazon and really do need it. (PE 6 is more expensive than PE 8 for some reason!) Is there anyone out there willing to share their Photoshop Elements 8 (or even 6) for Mac? Maybe have a copy you're not using? Thanks... otherwise I'll have to wait until Christmas and hope for a GC to Amazon.

Use Wine Compatibility Layer compiled for Mac. Problem Solved, you can use Windows Elements in Mac.

Please remember to follow the forum rules... We don't want any trouble...
That said, I know very little about macs, but a quick google shows it seems to be incompatible with the latest mac OS version... not sure if there is a compatibility mode or similar on macs, you'd probably be better off asking someone who uses them

I wouldn't know if my windows version would be compatible, but if Sight is right, where you can run in a windows compatibility mode...
...Considering the forum rules.... I'd like to give you my windows version of Photoshop Elements 7, but I can't. I'd like to send you the key along with it as well, but I can't. Last edited by Woodsprite; 09-02-2010 at 11:52 AM. Reason: Removed smiley at the end. You know, for cover. |

And then you realized the forum rules don't apply to PMs

Wine isn't a part of the Mac OS. It's a (usually linux) binary layer that allows windows exe's to run in a unix-like system, redirecting system calls appropriately. Since Mac is Unix-based, you could get gcc and the rest of the compiling stuff linux people are familiar with, and compile WineHQ - Run Windows applications on Linux, BSD, Solaris and Mac OS X for Mac. Shouldn't take more than 10-15min to edit the autoconf file and configure-make-install, and you're done. Damn, I gotta stop the technobabble.
![]() Or, you could dualboot windows, you could run windows in a sandboxed vm, remote desktop another pc running windows, So much for "Just works."

Everything you just said... made absolutely no sense whatsoever and sounds wayyyy too complicated for just getting something LIKE PE to work on my computer. Thanks anyway though!

Hmm, opposite here. Photoshop scares me a little.
