3D Blu-ray release of Avatar will be released on December 1, but it will be exclusively available with the purchase of Panasonic 3D TVs and Blu-ray players.
The exclusivity period hasn't been specified, but is said to be "unusually long" . To be honest i m not that hyped about bd 3d as i don't have 3d tv nor 3d bd player. Avatar CE 2d edition all day long <3 ![]() Source hollywoodinhidef Last edited by Tymian; 09-01-2010 at 11:20 AM. |

Hmm... if the waiting period is more than a year I'll crack and buy a Panasonic.

Depends on the price really...
If the price of the thing is semi-reasonable, then it may well be a possibility... but like that's ever going to happen.

Don't need 3D to enjoy this movie... it's only if the 45 minute extras are only on that disk it's going to be really annoying.
The extra 16-17 minutes is fine by me, which likely will force me to buy a blue-ray player. I can't justify buying a new tv screen just for one movie. (I'd rather spend the money on a new car!)

Meh. I'll be happy with the CE on Blu-ray.

I saw Avatar on a 3D TV and was very impressed, though I wasn't ready to pay the price for it.
...Okay, maybe I was just a little bit. ![]() I'm curious to know what the exclusive 3D blu-ray will look like. I remember seeing Avatar in 3D on a TV at best buy, but it didn't look like genuine 3D. Last edited by Vauktu; 09-01-2010 at 11:02 PM. |

I'm, with Tymian here... no way of playing 3D at the moment...
![]() As for existing 3D TVs, yeah, they do it in real time via postprocessing, a real 3D bluray has separate data that allows the 3D to be properly generated without approximating/creating the data

Sorry, but im not paying $3000+ to buy a 3-D T.V. and 3-D dvd player just to see Avatar...im fine with just the collectors addition with 45 min of xtra footage in 1080p.
