Default Avatar Board Game...Yes, it's true! LOL

I guess it was only a matter of time before this showed up. A friend of mine just found this and let me know about it and I just had to share with you all. She found it on Amazon. I know what I want for Christmas! LOL

That looks interesting... would like to see the synopsis of the game play before investing in it.

DO NOT WANT

Give me an Avatar MMORPG with webcam-compatible avatar creation and I'll buy it.

But not this.

Good. God.

...I read the synopsis for this before, but never saw what the game looked like (didn't see any pictures). I thought the gameplay was totally childish, but now after seeing pictures... with the "ages 8+"...

...Shoot me.

It's clear some of you don't like it, but in my opinion, the only thing I don't like is how complex it DOESN'T look. Not that I'd want to play a really hard and confusing game, but Avatar is the greatest movie ever (to me), and just from appearance, it looks a little too simple like there is not much to it.

Well it's "ages 8+", so that's to be expected.

You just pinpointed the greatest problem with it.......

Games for older audiences need to be more complex because its an older audience.

Considering the themes protrayed in Avatar, I'm really surprised someone thought that this would make money. Children aren't really going to understand what Tsaheylu with another Na'vi is supposed to mean, or what it implies is happening at the same time. They also aren't going to understand the dynamics of why humans need Pandora, and the struggle between the preservation of your own species and the chance to keep another one safe from the wrong clutches.

So, if children won't understand these, Avatar to them is just a bunch of blue indians riding dragons a'sploding spaceships.

We understand it, and the "gaming-minded" amongst us probably wouldn't mind (I'm guessing here) a well-done Risk-like version of this game. I don't think an exact copy of Risk is a great idea, but modeling the gameplay system along those lines might help.

So yeah, I'm not buying it, but I bet it'll end up in the bookstore I hang out in occasionally and I'll cringe every time I walk past it.

Parker Brothers did the same with the Lord of the Rings Risk and it was a success. I loved it too. As exciting as original Risk, but incorporating many twists. This Avatar-Risk adaptation idea is really getting me going.

There'd probably be clan territory separations or something.
