I know a lot of people on here also got the Avatar CE that just came out. There was a lot of deleted scenes on it, and I'm wondering which ones you liked. Here are some of mine.
I liked the Hunt Festival scene or whatever it was called. I think that as well as the "The Challenge" scene did good showing the relationship between Jake and Tsu Tey. I also kinda liked the scene where the Avatars attack. Not much to say about it, just thought it was a good scene. The following scenes I thought were interesting. "You're a long way from Earth" was weird to see Selfridge and Quaritch at a disagreement and to see Quaritch grab Selfidge by his head like that. "The Dreamhunt" I think it was called, I can't say I want it in the movie, but it would have been really awesome to see it how it looks finished. And seeing the scene where Max and Trudy help them escape extended was interesting as well.

The Hunt Festival has to be my favorite followed by the entire Avatars attack scene especially the part where the soldiers are boarding the helicopters. Both of those scenes would have looked amazing fully completed.

I liked the Hunt Festival, and where Trudy shows the Na'vi her Sampson and it gets all painted up. I also liked the scene where Selfridge is trying to stop the attack down in the armory bay and Quaritch threatens him. Really shows the evil in Quaritch there.

I don't know if I would call it my "favorite" deleted scene, but I really enjoyed "Pied Piper." Maybe because it was completely new... the other scenes I felt like I'd seen already, sort of, since I've read the script.
Apart from being very, very cute, "Pied Piper" was interesting because it further illustrates the difference between how the adults treat Jake and how the kids treat him. In general throughout the movie, I've noticed that the younger an Omaticaya is, the more they seem to like Jake. I imagine it's because they've seen less and have less baggage and mistrust. Maybe also because Jake is somewhat childlike himself, due to his inexperience, so he relates better with the younger Na'vi. For example, when he goes on ikinimaya with the young hunters, they're all in the same (dangerous) boat together, so the young hunters are rooting for him, whereas Tsu'tey just wants to see Jake fail humiliatingly. The shot in the "Grandma's Teylu" scene with the little girl was cool for the same reasons. :-)

I forget what it was called, but I loved the one with Grace and Jake talking to Selfridge in the rain. It was quite beautiful.

I liked the one where Selfridge finally finds sense and attempts to stop Quaritch from attacking the ToS.. (Unfortunately he fails.....)

The Hunt festival is one I utterly, utterly adore - it shows the clan, it shows Jake bonding with the clan, it shows his relationship with Tsu'Tey being more complicated than the movie, it has Grace and Norm with the clan, DRINKING, and the Jake/Neytiri dancing, where you can really see their spark.
My other fav ones are Norm's rant in "Interspecies Booty Call" - it adds a lot to his character, again makes him more complicated, and "We're Buying Time" has to be my all time favourite. Trudy and Jake bound together by guilt and espionage! Trudy/Norm being all smiley and cute! Trudy standing on her head! And. Yes. I love it so.

Trudy standing on her head was so random and awesome. :-p Norm's added screen-time really enhances his character, I think. I loved his random, goofy song-and-dance when he finds out they're going to the Hallelujah Mountains. "We're goin' to the mooooountains!" :-D

Definitely... it also actually shows more of Jake and Neytiri actually falling in love with each other, while in the actual finished scenes then it appears more sudden than with the context

I liked the hunt festival best, a shame it wasn't finished. Would have preferred this to the earth opening for the CE.
I also liked the avatars attack, the challenge, the short scenes where Jake is teased by the kids and where Grace and the kids are counting fingers. The shack scene (Discussion Grace-Jake) before the dream hunt is very emotional (The thunderstorm outside just fits to the atmosphere), but the actual dream hunt is too much prediction of the future story of the movie). And I liked the New Life scene, especially after adding of the Tsu'tey death scene it would have put the balance back to the positive, more happy side. |
