Default Finger Paintings

In many ways these paintings are inspired by Avatar, or at least how its deeping in its intergration into whom I am and my artwork. Additionally by letting myself finger paint, I allowed my inner 6 yr old to play again, to be free to just paint, without all the fears and critics of teachers and grownups getting in the way.

The type of artwork is called Intuitive Art - a form of abstract painting.

I do energy work, sort of like Reiki and such .. I see with my hands and intuition .. so these pieces two series .. try to reflect the ways of 'seeing' that energy - spirit

it is't anything that can be defined by physical form .. think more like things that you would see in a dream or vision! But non tangible

Its basically imagery of those aspects of 'being' that aren't contained by our phsyical body ... a reflection of spirit essence, representative of emotions mind/spirit/heart .. joy, happiness, love, sorrow, grief, longing, etc!

The first series - I painted Sunday night (Dec 12, 2010) when i was feeling lost, disconnected and inspired to let my 'hands' sort through my feelings for me. Hense the title Surrendering .. letting go of my rational mind and thinking and letting my heart do the talking

Surrendering

"Its only 'here' that we lose perspective, out at the Cosmic Consciousness Level things get a lot clearer. For example, there is an actual star pattern that is traced in the shape of a Willow Tree, across the breadth of the Milky Way! And no wonder Indigenous peoples refer to the 'here after' as the Happy Hunting Grounds! Has it ever occured to anyone why the bioluminescence dots, on the Na'vi!"

The second series I painted Tuesday morning Dec 14, 2010.

This series reflects a change and a deepening and appreciation of learning to 'trust' having learned from Sundays experience of painting .... to know that even when I think I'm in my own way, and at those moments feeling like I'm disconnected, that deep down, in the inner most essence of my soul, I'm not after all!

Those deserve a place at the MoMA. Let me say, I never thought abstract art could be beautiful, but this is sheer emotions put into canvas and blue paint.

Thanks for sharing, they are truly beautiful.

Whoa, seriously. Those are awesome.

In fact, you could probably sell those off for maybe a couple thousand.

I am absolutely speechless by your kind comments and appreciations.

Honestly I didn't really think anyone would like them, or understand them, but you are my Aysmukan si aytsmuke and I am so moved by your words!

Thank you, from my heart, thank you so much, it means the world to me!

to be honest i really don't understand what these paintings are all about but currently im listening to some really lrelaxing and lovely music and looking at these paintings makes it even more relaxing. i really love the colours you use, they're the colours of Pandora's bioluminescent forest, and also like how they blend in together. 2nd and 5th ones from the 2nd series would be my favourites. keep doing what you love doing

Great Job Mika, before now I didn't think that fingerpainting could be a great alternative to painting with a paintbrush but the way that you've done these suggests that it is
I actually would prefer to do this, using a paintbrush isn't as accurate and you wouldn't get the same "I did this" feeling when you finish, it's like you've left a part of yourself on the canvass.

These three are my recent in the last couple of days and definitely Avatar themed

The middle one is titled Hometree and the two on right and left are Tsaheylu!

(and being my own critic .. photo quality like the others not the greatest)

All the paintings are actually quite textured and vibrant in color .. which the photos's are simply not reflectiing!

These are all quite lovely. They all tell a story, one that is impossible to put into words, but when one let's the soul do the talking becomes perfectly clear. Oel Ngati Kameie ma tsmuke.

My favorite is the Tsaheylu on the right.

A couple more recent ones

Where Sky Land and Sea Meet

^I had saw this one in a vision/dream over the holidays! The first one above it was actually my first attempt to create it.

This is how my hands looked after painting the 2nd one last night! Needless to say ...

Lovely colors I bet people over on Etsy would buy those like they were candy.

Those are amazing, especially the last two... they really don't look like you used your hands.

Also, nice blue hands
