One of my favorite animated movies for a long time since i was 18 when i saw it in it's november 1999 US release, such a beautiful, dark, violent and rewarding work of animated poetry that Cameron himself praised.
Great voice acting by Billy Bob Thorton, Claire Danes, Minnie Driver, Jada Pinkett Smith and Billy Crudup and amazing animation. If you like Avatar, rent this masterpiece and you'll see how similar it is including the message. |

It's a very beautiful and sad movie. I watched it for the first time when I was 10 at my friends house.

I like Nausicaa more.
Mononoke is very good though. Mononoke, Nausicaa, Totoro, and Spirited Away are probably my favorites of his works. But the first three are on top.

Absolutely love this film, it is one of my favourites. It's such a beautiful story and the characters are all great. Find it hard not to cry whenever I watch it. First saw it when I was 9 and until I saw Avatar, San was what Neytiri is to me now.

Avatar is similar to both Nausicaa and Mononoke with a bit of Castle in The Sky and Totoro, Cameron loves Ghibli movies you know.

Oh, my God, I nearly had a breakdown when I saw this film. I didn't because my cousin was watching it with me, and I didn't want her to see that. This is definately one of the saddest films I've ever seen. I love it though.

Oh yes it is beautiful but also tragic and so sad. I was crying a lot when I saw it again some time ago. The white little spirits of the forest were so great
![]() Nausicaa - yes, that is a great one, too. With all the poisonous jungle and the people that use gliders to get around. Really nice - also quite sad, but by far not as much as Mononoke.

I watched it fairly recently. It's good, but very weird. I think there were some references I was missing or something, but I still enjoyed it.
