Question Queue Accidental Connections

I was thinking about this today for some reason.

Wouldn't that Navi need to be careful with their queue? What if you are sitting around the firepit and chatting with you best friend, and your queues got too close and the ends bumped. Would they connect? Would anything happen? Do you have to mentially want to connect for the connection to happen? Or do they have a mind of their own. In the movie it seems like they kind of wiggle and will connect to anything that gets close. So what would happen if you accidently connected to your best friend? What if that friend was the same sex? Will they connect, or would they repel like two magnets of the same pole?

Also, we know that Ikran can only bond with a single warrior. What happens if another warrior tries to bond to an Ikran that is already bonded? Is it painful, will it not connect at all? Or just no mental connection is made?

Also, if you are mated for life with another Navi, what happens if you did try to mate with another navi?

Just curious on your thoughts. Not sure if this has been discussed before. I did try to search first to see, but didn't find anything.

You'll notice the actual tendrils themselves only emerge when the owner of the queue intends to connect it with another, so there would be no accidental tsahaylu.

The Ikran would most likely put up a fight if you tried to bond with it. Even if the connection was made, it probably wouldn't do what you want. Not to mention bonding with another warriors Ikran would probably be equivalent to stealing a car in human society, not good...

Oops. What did I spell wrong? My bad.

Thanks everyone for all your thoughts.

If Na'vi mate for life, if their mate dies, can they then remate with someone new?

I guess the biggest question is when they bond / mate, is it more of a rule that that they only mate for life, or is it something physical / biological that prevents it from happening.

Nothing would happen. It's consciously sharing your own mind, not something that just happens. I doubt they'd even connect (plus the hair goes down past the endings, protecting them from anything normally touching them).
If a Na'vi tried to bond with another's ikran, I bet the ikran would attack them - they seem to be very close to and protective of their bonded Na'vi - Neytiri tells Jake not to look into Seze's eyes.

If their mate dies, I'd say they probably could (the CE does state one interesting thing which I had always had as a theory, that non-permanent bondings do occur as well) - on the other hand, if they'd want to or not is another thing. I guess it would depend on the individual.
