For me it was Murai (Ninja Gaiden). In hard mode is not to bite, and also Sephiroth (Final Fantasy VII) -I can't begin to say how much time I spent on trying to beat him.

The Yolk-Star™
![]() From Chicken Invaders III: Revenge of the Yolk-Star™ for the PC platform. Far from the most difficult boss I've faced in a game, but definitely the most annoying. Why? Because when spending a full day playing through the game at the hardest difficulty without dying once, to get the most prestigious award you can get, this final boss splatters you utterly, forcing you to start all over from the beginning. Man, I hate chickens.

Yolk-Star!
I love it.Sephiroth was nasty. I guess I'm odd, though, because I struggled more with some of the earlier bosses in FF VII than with Sephiroth--wow, this is making me want to play it again. Oh no! I have a dual pick here: Most annoying (most difficult): Mega Man 1, first boss of Dr. Wily's stage (the screen-high robot who breaks into tiny pieces and moves himself from one side of the screen to the other). I was never able to beat him without cheating. Still can't. And yes, I still play those old Mega Man games once or twice a month (gotta love the Wii VC!). Most annoying (most galling): The final boss of Capcom's Ghouls 'n' Ghosts (Sega Genesis or arcade) who you'd defeat with ease and then find out that you had to complete the entire game again in order to *actually* win. Grrrr....

The ones from the original series are a pain, but you've seen NOTHING until you played the X and Zero series. I can make a list of 10+ bosses from those games alone that were overly difficult. There are a couple of them that are so strong that you can't win unless you find some kind of secret upgrade. Hmmm, who else? Oh, pretty much every SNK fighter boss character. Krizalid is my favorite, though. Omega Rugal was the worst one; a couple of his moves had hitboxes that filled the whole screen vertically. The walking brain-mecha from Metal Slug 6 is pretty cheap. I still haven't found a way through his attack pattern....Rootmars from MS3 and the Jupiter King from the same game were also pretty tough fights. I've only ever beaten the Jupiter King without dying *once*, and it only works if you do the rest of the level perfectly. The bosses from Ghouls and Ghosts/Super Ghouls and Ghosts were also really annoying. Especially when you get through the whole game only to have it send you back to square one to find a magic bracelet that you need to damage the final boss .____. ^ I actually didn't even notice that I already quoted this until I posted it. That should show people how ridiculous that game/games are.

-the jack in the box which is inside king k rool's ship in Donkey Kong 64 -general that turns invisible in killzone 2 -final boss in Turok 2 (N64) -baron samedi from Goldeneye N64, not the boss himself but how you have to defeat him (need to get the golden gun and i couldn't figure out the specific path to reach it so i ended up looking it up and finally got it, but now i forgot)

Sniper fight with the end (mgs3) It just takes so long to defeat him, assuming he doesn't sneak up behind you.

Holy crap, I know every single one of those bosses. That jack in the box on DK 64 with Dixie Kong was a bitch!! The End though in MGS3 I thought was easy, it was not knowing what the heck to do with The Sorrow at the end that pissed me off. I quit playing that for months till I decided to google it. ![]() Now as for my pick of the most annoying, I would give it too Screaming Mantis in MGS4. I didn't know to use the syringe to neutralize my nanomachines to break her nanomachine mindcontrol over me. As for the hardest, I would definately have to give it to Sephiroth & Grim Reaper fella on Kingdom Hearts 1. Sephiroth still kicks my arse to this day, as does the Grim Reaper wanna be on the Peter Pan level of KH. |

Ah Sephiroth! That is truly an incredibly tough battle, if you weren't prepared. It's tough enough with the two "practice" boss battles beforehand.
His signature move annoyed me the most. Not because it dealt roughly 95% damage to all your team but the fact that it takes a lifetime for him to actually execute it. There's basically a mini-cutscene just to deploy that move. Sephiroth -- deadly battle, worthy climax to an incredible RPG! |
