Venus to appear in once-in-a-lifetime event

On 5 and 6 June this year, millions of people around the world will be able to see Venus pass across the face of the Sun in what will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
It will take Venus about six hours to complete its transit, appearing as a small black dot on the Sun's surface, in an event that will not happen again until 2117.

Not bad , although don't look directly at it.

Somewhat annoyingly, it's only visible from the UK for roughly 1-2 hours, at sunrise. (Which is at 04:40.)

Actually, twice in a lifetime, the other being eight years ago The weather is looking good around here, so I'll probably be able to see it when the sun starts to set if I get on the roof.

It was really tough for me to see, I had to have the welding helmet on the darkest setting to block out the sun enough for Venus to show. It was in the upper right hand corner of the sun for me.

Really humblingto see something so far away and bring back into realization how small and insignificant we are.

I couldn't see it live due to rotten weather, but saw it online. Very sobering to see; for some reason it reminded me of Eames' short film Powers of Ten.
