A friend of mine showed me this, I met her at College last year and she cried when she saw this video, specifically because of the poem and the context, but also due to the fact that she strongly disagrees with social media completely. I thought i'd share it with you guys and see your opinion.

I don't believe it's a problem with social media in and of itself; rather, I think it's the way some people choose to use it. Facebook has been quite helpful for me; for instance, it allowed me to make some new connections with people in my academic major. It's also a first step to making friends with classmates. However, it's a problem if you choose to interact with people on Facebook or Twitter instead of doing so personally. It's generally a bad idea to replace personal interaction with virtual ones unless you have no other choice (i.e. long distance communication).

I think Raptor said it perfectly, I've gotten to know people online I wouldn't have otherwise, people I hung out with loads in real life. If you just mean Facebook, I established my best friend there, and if you mean everything, I met my husband online.
Damn, this is a really long poem. |
