It's been a while since the 2017 release date has been announced. Anyway, here's the confirmation Exoblade asked about.
‘Avatar 2′: Fox CEO Confirms Christmas 2017 Release Planned Interestingly, Fox CEO has very nice things to say about what he's seeing from Avatar2: “It’s a room... which is covered floor to ceiling with images, characters, worlds, settings. It’s the most amazing, breathtaking thing you’ve ever seen. His challenge is to put all of that in a movie.” Cheers!

i prefer that jc takes his time and actually gets a scenario without major gaping holes and inconsistencies. as long as he doesn't go overboard with taking his time...
that they are actually writing the entire arc in advance and, last i read, making sure it stays consistent is actually a good thing. knock on wood, people. (maybe i missed the memo, and i apologize for asking what could be common knowledge, but have they signed the other actors besides sam, zoe, sigourney and stephen?) cheers.

I'm just surprised at the number of times the expected release of A2 has been pushed back, and that it still seems to be because of the script. I think shooting the sequels concurrently was a bad idea.

I think waiting this long to shoot anything was a bad idea. The hype and excitement of the original has faded away for most people.
I think they should've done it within a year or two while everyone was still suffering from PAD.
