Oh i think there should be a way to remove it and plant to another place. Is it this tall and cant really be removed without cutting it??

The previous owner planted it right next to my septic tank (two concrete covers). I don't think he/she anticipated it's huge growth. It's a risk to the system, which can cost up to $10k to remedy.
I do plan to plant 8 trees on my property next week but I still feel really guilty about taking it down. I cloned a few indoor plants in the past. Is it possible to clone this tree to replant? Last edited by ahoragi; 06-05-2016 at 12:46 AM. |

Yeah I'll wait till the forum's "Grace Augustine" chimes in. He knows all about flora and fauna.

Well I had a day off and decided to just get it over with. I hated having to wake up and see that tree and feel bad about how it's nearing the end of it's life. I woke up this morning, fired up the chainsaw, and just went at it with my emotions set aside. It was very difficult to do but I managed with the help of the lady.
![]() ![]() ![]() Sad to see that but some good might come out of this. I watched a bunch of youtube vids on cloning and am attempting to clone a few from the fallen tree. None of the vids I watched had any decent captioning so I had to just go by what I saw and my past experience. I hope at least one of these can root....

Well good news and bad news. The clones failed to root. However I saved the stump and will honor the tree by making use of it. I thought about using it to support a table or hold a bird bath bowl or scoop out the top so it's a natural bowl. The birds were always sitting on it (and pooping) while the stump remained. I really have to think about it and see what I want to do to preserve the memory of that tree. I had to cut the stump off so the guy could come and grind out the remaining stump from the ground. Now there's nothing there and I planted fresh grass.
![]() I still feel bad for cutting it down. ![]() But the good news is I kept my promise. For every tree I have to cut down I told myself I will plant another to replace it and keep the balance. I did that just today. I am now a proud owner/planter of a weeping willow tree. ![]() I kept an eye out for one since I moved in to this house and finally found one in the strangest of places: walmart. For those who don't know what a weeping willow tree is, it's very similar to the Tree of Souls. ![]() Hopefully mine grows to look that beautiful! |
