Default Neytiri ...Go Easy On Me. :)

Kaltxi ma Na'Vi,

Posted this over on our sister site: my first attempt to drawn seriously since school... 30yrs ago! I may be old (44) but I can still fall in love with Pandora, Neytiri, the Na'Vi....

I found drawing the hair almost impossible??, positioning the pupils very hard.... any advice would be welcomed

Here goes then....

That looks great! I have also been trying to draw Neytiri latley but I find it very hard. I tried finding a very large pic to draw, then converting it to grayscale in photoshop, then try to draw it with pencil. I find her facial proportions and eyes like you said very difficult to draw.

You did an excellent job, the proporations are the hardest part to place and I see perfection. Here is what I think would make this much better:
-The upper lip shouldn't be bigger than the bottom lip, it's something we overlook sometimes so this is optional
-Magnificent job on the stripes, it took me a long while to understand just how much pressure I needed to create a light but distinguished set of lines on some of mine ><. But I see her now and think that she looks older. Perhaps the hair could use a bit more attention (her hair is normally braided, if you can draw one section of her braided hair, just replicate it with respect to shadows as you go along and you'll have good looking hair).

This is my advice, from my PoV.

Kaltxi ma eylan's,

Thanks for the positive comments - I'm always short on time but will attempt another pic soon, will pay attention and heed all the advice

Irayo frapo.

I tried to add subtle colour but I rushed it The pencils just spread the graphite rather than colour so lost detail, definition etc....learning loads though, can't wait to start another one

You put the link to the page in [ img] tags, you need to use [ url] ones or link directly to the image rather than the page.

Anyway, very nice work
I really like the eyes.

I can't see the picture, although I really want to. Can you try fixing it by uploading to tinypic.com ?

Default Neytiri better this time??

Kaltxi,

Apologies for Neytiri-ing you all to death, tsu'tey next.

Thought I'd post up the current stage, ways to go yet before she's fin.... as I mentioned in previous posts, been struggling to accurately portray her braided hair...but I've nearly got it now.

So here she is at 70%, I think I've represented her much better this time?

This is not possible, and if it was, it would be an amazing death.

Your drawings are quite good btw, far better than I could ever hope for.

Kaltxi ma Navi,

I've missed fi tsenge. She's virtually finished, just few aspects of shading to go; lost a bit of texture and gained over-enhancement of shaddow here and there on the scan.

But I love her

Tsutey next then, another year

I would have said no up until I saw Neytiri. Now I know it's possible, whether it should be or not.
