It's probably not a good sign for it's long term success that all of the articles about the trailer seem to be referring to it as "creepy".

The uncanny Valley creepy issue can be done with a film artists artistic intent in mind as well so there are two sides to things ,, James Cameron knows all about the Uncanny valley effect and how it makes a film "Feel"

Hmmm I don't find the eyes creepy since the character is clearly not supposed to look human (it's when they try to achieve hyper realism that things start getting weird) - to me they are an interesting stylistic touch - and I can appreciate the risk the animators took in going head on with the Anime style...

buut I'm slightly bothered by how CG/fake her face looks in some of the shots (not all)- almost like a video game, the CG is in no way bad but for some reason I find myself paying extra attention to any off expressions/robotic movements.

It's not full on uncanny valley (did any of you watch the Polar Express? My god that was awful) - just a bit too... cartoony for my tastes?

Any way - before I go - I'll leave you all with this lovely video;

(^ since were talking about uncanny valley and all)

I saw the movie this past week. It was unbelievably good and had a ton of Avatar references.

Nothing was creepy and she looked pretty realistic next to her human counterpart.

Looking forward to part 2.

And if it matters, I watched this on a Qled 4k Samsung 65" tv and it looked ridiculous.
