Money money money... seems like thats what everyone and everything revolves around these days... who's worth what, what's worth what. I'll admit I'm a little into it... hard to have hobbies like working on cars, being a DJ and such without having any money. Both hobbies pretty much require money... money for parts for a car, money for new CDs, lights, equipment and accessories... but it's all so much fun.

The all-mighty dollar... I love it, I hate it

Same here, like what was Jake said about his brother. "Killed for the paper in his wallet"

I also hate the dollar but there is an alternative that needs to be brought back. The barter system, like I'll trade you this chicken for that sack of flower. Or I'll trade you this car part for some of your old DJ equipment. Or whatever, this also helps establish friendships, tighter communities and positive attitudes, and the government doesn't get a cut of it either. But the trouble is getting everyone to work together on it. Which I don't see happening for a long time.

But a little off-topic question. what cars you like working on, I'm a grease monkey to. I got me a 1943 ford truck I'm restoring and next in line is my 79 Mercury cougar.

Imports and muscle. Don't get the my version of imports confused with the ricers haha I've got a 2000 Honda Accord V6 EX with a Injen Short Ram Intake, DC Sports headers, 65k HIDs, and my most recent upgrade was a set of wheels from a '05 Acura TL. I've got so much more I want to do, including either a J32, J35, or J37 engine swap, an auto to manual 6 speed transmission swap, coil overs, sway bars, brushings, new paint job (still deciding), ect. And for the muscle car, I was planning on a 1970 El Camino or 1972 Chevelle, make it drag race ready, and hopefully go all out with a 572 big block, internals, the whole shebang

Is that '43 Ford the one in your picture? In the Picture of Us thread?

And I also agree with the whole trade thing... that would be so much better

I'm glad that you actually put performance parts on your car and not just body parts, we have a lot of kids at school who put spoilers, wheels and a slick paint job on their car and think they have race cars. And it just drives me nuts.

I'm into the classic truck, and muscle car thing, but not all out drag race. It would be cool but I would rather have kind of a weekend warrior kind of car. A car I can drive on the street but one that will hold its own on the strip.

Yes the truck in that picture is the 43. I am restoring it and built an engine for it from the ground up which after I got done decided I would just keep the original engine. I got some vids on youtube if you wanna check them out.

One of the truck.

One of the engine. The first 2:10 is pretty much me trying to get it to start but it does start. Should be putting out around 300-325 HP with the mods I did. Not bad for a 45 year old engine.

Either way, I think we kinda got off topic talkin bout cars.

I don't particularly care about money, but I'm not exactly one to talk. Let's just say that I've been "blessed" to live a life where money has never been a problem.

I agree that money is a big problem but like Stanley said, you have to have money to do the things you want to do. Its a two-edged sword. I knew that I never had much ambition to make a bunch of money. I wouldn't know what to do with it if I had a ton. Instead, I hope I can make enough to live, to get out of debt, and maybe save some but my husband and I struggle. We know we will be for a long time.

However, I don't to look poor or live poor. I am but I don't have to look like a bum. That is why it upsets me if some of my clothes get messed up (I think my silly washer is eating some of the clothes). I have to have cheap stuff but I don't want them to be trashy. I'm content to live simply. I'd prefer that to having a bunch of money.

It is such a struggle though because I also want nice things. Its a struggle to get the bills paid and try to pay off some of our debts (we have a bunch). It helps that my brother lives with us. He is struggling too. At least we are able to get food on the table and pay our rent, electric, etc bills.

I wish we could have more of a barter system too. Unfortunately, the smallest bill is taxed so the government can get their share .

In the meantime, I am happy. I know that the most important parts of life is family, love, and faith. I have all of those. Some people who are rich are not happy. They have all the money they could ask for and stuff but they are lonely and they don't have love. Some people who are poor are envious of the rich and prey on them.

Its sad what money does to people. I guess the best thing to do is to detach oneself to money and possessions. I don't mean sell everything that you have but detach yourself from it so that if you lose it all, it won't kill you. I struggle with it myself.

I talked to a classmate at college today about the barter system, the whole trade thing, and he agrees that it would be a whole lot better than the money system. I don't see anyone of high authority moving to that ever

CASH MONEY!
money is only the means to the end. how much you have doesn't matter to me, as long as the end is reached, but most importantly, IM happy.
