Simon Franglen has been hired to score the first two Avatar sequels. He was a friend of James Horner. He co-composed the score for The Magnificent Seven after James's death. He also composed the music for Leona Lewis's "I See You."

He's credited along with James Horner and Sandra Benton with the Pandora: The World of Avatar soundtrack. I'm slightly concerned since the two tracks he's given sole credit for are The Shaman Call (From "Windtraders Shop") and Wave (From "Pongu Pongu"). I liked the first one of those, not so much the second one. To be fair I didn't like any of the Pongu Pongu songs on the soundtrack so I'm probably worried over nothing.

Txantsan! I'm very optimistic about this news...I think Simon Franglen will be a great composer for the sequel films, as he'll carry on James Horner's legacy.

I also feel good about this, I like the fact that they chose a talent that has already worked with James Horner, and hopefully it will allow success with the sound track.

The thing I like about this is how he's virtually unknown, and has practically nothing to look at to see what we might expect.
The fact that he's the composer is a testament to James Cameron's desire for secrecy. |
