IRC Channel Turned Into A Mind****?

So. Today, a guy called sb50 entered the #TreeOfSouls channel.

Suddenly, the topic of discussion turned into "brainsex with 4-hour long orgasms", eating poop, crapping bricks, nudity being porn, Ninat being "the cheap ***** of avatar riddled with STD's" and Neytiri being "the sex-god".

Well sure, some were having much fun, but to be honest I found the whole discussion rather disturbing at times.

I wouldn't want to blame sb50 of what happened, but I doubt that he had never seen Avatar (He said he had seen AIW and THL, which are far less popular than Avatar) and that he had "accidentally" entered the channel.

I just thought of posting this here, because I think this kind of behavior, even in the irc channel, is not acceptable and only gives out a bad impression of our community.

IRC will always be IRC. To be fair, some of those are taken out of context. That said, it did get a bit out of control, but there isn't so much that can be done without banning people, which wouldn't have been appropriate. It's not like posts can be edited on IRC, and the pace is far faster than any forum, so it's to be expected sometimes.

You are right. well, I can always leave the channel when it turns into a mess like this..
